As Thanel alluded to earlier, one of the new themes at BrickCon in two months is Battle Bugs. Harrison (Corran101) built this lovely WASP (Winged Arial Scout and Patrol) bot, complete with warning stripes.

Chris Malloy’s Iron Golem will do your steampunk bidding
With a gap between LEGO creations of almost two years, it’s great to see something new from Chris Malloy (porschecm2). His Iron Golem is both sinister and adorably, simultaneously mechanical and biological.
The Chinese hats from the Adventurers Orient Expedition theme add a nice riveted look over the robot’s joints.
Such a heavy load to tote...
Mecha Frenzy
I’ve noticed a flood of great mecha creations being posted lately, and I’d like to call attention to a few of them.
Kyle Vrieze (bermudafreze)has really out-done himself with his latest mecha, the AC01 above. He’s done some great things with armor, especially around the ankles, and I also quite enjoy the head. He has also made great use of stickers throughout.
This thing is just armed to the teeth. It has missile pods on each shoulder, and a huge built-on gun on the left arm, but that doesn’t stop it from picking up a rifle with the right hand.
Flickr’s Crimson Wolf has been featured here often, but I’m not going to let that stop me.
This mecha has an old-school Battletech feel, with its big body, bulging weapons and chicken legs. It also has all sorts of new-school building techniques and details to set it apart. I’m especially keen on the feet, and I love any mecha with external pistons at the joints.
Hunabkru has built an excellent mecha of his own, the MX-6 “Berserker” Close Combat Mecha.
I really love the use of car doors for an extra bit of armor plating for the knee. The head is also quite nice. The proportions and style of the bot remind me of the very old game One Must Fall 2098.
The mecha also has a pretty rockin sword, if you ask me.
A Horrifying Discovery
Tyler has concocted this bizarre scene, in which one mech finds the grisly remains of a friend. Besides being well-constructed, this scene really conveys a certain pathos. I feel sorry for the poor guy!
VOTOMS Scopedog
Johnny Tang built the Scopedog mecha from VOTOMS in all its armored magnificence. The creation stands about 1.5 feet tall and features a furnished cockpit revealed in the video below.

Editor’s note: This creation incorporates large amounts of non-LEGO elements from a brand called BTR or “Built to Rule,” from Hasbro. Despite featuring “mixed media” creations from builders like nnenn, something with quite so many clone bricks is a first for TBB, and has sparked off an interesting discussion in the comments. I can hear the thump
It must be the Dawn Forge. Brian Kescenovitz brought this giant walker in a diorama to BrickWorld this year. In the scale of a minifig-populated scene, it clearly trumps everything in sight.

Transforming 10187 Volkswagen Beetle
Why is this 10187 Volkswagen Beetle by Alex Schranz yellow?
Well, I suppose the post title gives it away, but click the pic to see this lovely classic Beetle in “robotmode”.
There are hardsuits...
…and then there are hard suits.
Lord Dane takes the chunkification of hardsuits to new heights with this LEGO Star Wars suit operated by a clone trooper. The legs are wholly unique, while fitting in nicely to the Imperial aesthetic.
Gimley wants you off his lawn
Bionicle builder retinence branched out to LEGO SYSTEM mecha recently, with excellent results.
“Project Gimley” has a lot of personality. I mean, how challenging is it to make an immortal mecha look old?
Choronzon and The Whisperer
There’s not much in the way of post titles that can top the unique name Kaye gave his latest, even stranger mecha.
The head is just plain weird (which isn’t a bad thing), and all the horns give this demonic mecha quite an organic feel.
Skids & Mudflap – LEGO Transformers from Revenge of the Fallen
Until a certain decreasingly juvenile wizard graces theaters next Wednesday, the 150-minute chase sequence, errr, Michael Bay extravaganza known as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen remains the #1 movie in America.
My irrelevant movie critique aside, John Ho (IcedPlusCoffee) brings us a pair of rather cool cool-looking characters from the film.
No, they don’t actually transform, but the angled slopes John used in the torsos on both Skids (green) and Mudflap (orange) are really nice.
