As someone who only saw the trailer for Elysium, I recognize this HDF bot by Ethan (MrMαcy). It’s pretty accurate compared to the reference, and now we just need a decal expert to take it to the next level.

The Joker Rampages through Gotham
With what just might be the scariest LEGO Joker I’ve ever seen (and as a mech, no less), this model by oLaF appears to be only one part of a multi-stage diorama collaboration between several builders. I can’t wait to see the whole thing, but in the meantime, this segment is worth taking a look at by itself.
Friday Night Fights (Round 18)
Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another low-blow edition of Friday Night Fights! Tonight’s bout pits traditional vs. digital styles in an all out struggle for supremacy in the ring. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:
Fighting out of the red corner, from The City of Roses…Nathan “The Knife” DeCastro (nate_decastro) and his XV-1011 EL-AHRAIRAH.
And fighting out of the blue corner, from somewhere deep inside the MCP cone, Jackhammer-joeluk66 and his Anubis.
As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this pugilistic endeavor by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, Iron Builder Rematch, FNF history was made as the judges called the bout a draw. Maybe a highly acclaimed panel of turbo-nerds really is the best way to decide The Iron Builder, or maybe this was the closest IB competition to date. Tune in next week for another action packed edition of Friday Night Fights!
Deer Me!
I am aware that this is not the first deer-like creation that I have blogged here. For some reason, I still couldn’t resist this build by audioglobe (brikkle). It’s not just that the puns are deer to my heart, I truly believe this model is worth fawning over. The head and horns really capture the look of the animal, and the joints and spindly hooves cap it off nicely.
VEM1200 GS搭載艇
Our next featured model comes from legorobo:waka, a builder who has been blogged 8 times by 7 different Brothers this year alone. My addition to the bandwagon legorobo:waka’s fantastic anime-inspired drop-ship posted a few weeks ago called the VEM1200 GS搭載艇, which can transport 5 mecha to far flung battlefields or even your home prefecture, if necessary.
The model was on display at a recent fan gathering in Nagoya Japan on August 17. I don’t have much in the way of detail on the event (I wasn’t able to contact the builder), but maybe one of our constant readers can offer some insight. As one might expect the mecha display looks like it was mind-blowing.
Two Heads Are Better than One
The first thing that caught my eye about this mecha, by Garry_rocks, was the fact that it appeared to have two heads. Closer inspection revealed that, in addition to two heads, it also has two operators. There are plenty of modern day military vehicles with two operators, but it still came as a surprise to see it in a mecha. It looks like a fun build, and I only wish that all these parts really came in this color!
“Your test times show you are going too slowly.”
I have to admit that I’ve never played the popular video game Portal or any of its sequels, but I like to think I know a good diorama when I see one. I’ve been entirely too verbose this weekend, so I’ll just let this lovely image by eldeem do the talking. I will say that I really like the lift-arms under the platform, and the placing of the various elements in this shot is perfect.
According to the Ryan you can even actually play this course yourself, if you’re into that sort of thing.
The Companion Cube featured in this diorama was designed by Gaelen Mibeck (MooseBot) and used with permission by the builder.
As always it has been a pleasure being your weekend DJ here at TBB. Until next time, the long distance dedication line and the first time caller line remain open.
The very angry grasshopper
It’s time to get digital again, constant reader and check out the “Grasshopper light mech” by Hungarian builder Matthew Sylvan. One looks great, but how awesome would a cloud of grasshoppers look? Food for thought builder Sylvan, food for thought. Az óriás robot kiemelkedő! (Google Translate don’t fail me now).
This Hoplite Treads Heavily
This mega-mech by SPECTRE. is armed to the teeth–or should that be shins? I love the cockpit here; it’s nice to see some deviation away from using an official windscreen in a typical manner. And SPECTRE’s added just the right amount of highlighting to really make all the details stand out.
Olive Juice
This insect-like mech by legorobo:waka makes my heart go pitter patter. It has a great, military look to it, and just seems fun. Olive juice too, mecha, olive juice too.
Lighters up! FateHeart is back.
Every time I see a model from FateHeart I’m reminded not only of how brilliant his work is, but also of a terrible 80’s hair-metal cover band here in Vegas. The kind of band that plays so far off The Strip that it might as well be in Arizona. So put your lighters up in the air for the better FateHeart and two of his latest models that somehow slipped under the TBB radar in early 2013.
First up is the magnificent United Earth Federation – MA-02F2R Seraphim III (refit) from April of this year. The model has a long and interesting history of previous versions that stretch back a decade, just go down the digital rabbit hole, Alice and follow the links in the photostream if you are interested.
And as an encore, enjoy the brand new power ballad White Knight.
The Baddest Mech on Wheels
There’s so much more to love about this awesome mech by Bermudafreze than just those transfixing blue Chima wheels, but I can’t take my eyes off of them. I think Bermudafreze holds the current title for best use of that part. The rest of the mech could stand on its own (haha) even without them, with that dark tan color scheme, great armor design, and sweet cockpit.
