We all love a good LEGO Gundam or Macross mecha, but LEGO builders everywhere are also creating excellent models of their own designs. Have a look at them here.

Gorgeous bipedal PRISM mech

David Steeves (SuperHardcoreDave) is clearly working from the didn’t-look-like-LEGO-in-the-thumb playbook with his latest P.R.I.S.M. mech. And he clearly read it well. And it has spindly crotch arms. And I can even forgive the pointe feet.

Tweezer

Don’t even think about leaving Poland yet constant reader, your papers are not in order! Rookie Piotr H. (MeGustaKapusta) hails from Stargard Szczeciński, where he dreams…among other things…about lanky medical robots called “Tweezers loping through weedy fields. The model is inspired by artist Keith Thompson’s S19 SYRINGE SAINT if you’re interested in such things. I don’t think this is the last we’ll be seeing of Mr. Piotr H.

Friday Night Fights (Round 9)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another concussive edition of Friday Night Fights! Tonight’s bout has all the makings of a barn-burner between two up and coming fighters in the hotly contested Super Flyweight Division. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:

Fighting out of the red corner…from nowhere in particular…LowestFormOfWit and his Seneschal.

00009-Seneschal - Solar Union Peacekeeper Frame - Custom #1

And fighting out of the blue corner…from the files of the Young Spacers Association Blog…Jeremy Crouch (Marchides) and his Crone I-V 3

Crone I-V 3

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this pugilistic endeavor by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, Tokyo madman Ryuhei Kawai just barely squeaked by his opponent to the tune of a 4-3 victory. Sorry Taz, you can’t vote for yourself in this arena.

Oh, and now for the boilerplate: these are both MFZ models, for the MFZ game. Promotion-promotion, yadda-yadda-yadda.

Friday Night Fights (Round 8)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another teeth-rattling edition of Friday Night Fights! Tonight’s bout has the Vegas odds-makers confounded and the betting public in a fury. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:

Fighting out of the red corner…from The Vertical City…Ryuhei Kawai (kwi-chang) and his “LHB-022_V.E.S.P.A_“.

Yellow LEGO mecha

And fighting out of the blue corner…from the mean-streets where pimpin’ ain’t easy…Jade Wisniewski (Taz-Maniac) and his “Trigger Happy“.

The Fight-team would also like to thank Jack Daniels, the official adult beverage of FNF. Enjoy some Jack with your favorite LEGO Ice-cube men, but always drink responsibly. Thanks to Karl Westworth for his contribution to tonight’s broadcast.

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this pugilistic endeavor by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, crusty veteran Brian Kescenovitz scored an early round knockout against his overmatched opponent, the judges called it 11-2: easily the most lopsided fight in the brief history of FNF.

Vera Crone

TBB first-timer Jeremy Couch (Marchides) might have dubbed his mini-mech “Vera Crone,” but with a green color scheme and white stripes, it might as well be the perfect Brothers Brick-bot.

Vera Crone

The Vera Crone appears to be fully pose-able, including transforming from chunky bipedal mecha to flight mode.

Thanks to reader Curtis for the tip, via Facebook.

Yeah!!!

Some models require no explanation, you either get it or you don’t. The kind of model where you don’t need some LEGO wonk like me prattling on about part numbers, color blocking and studied asymmetry. No, this model has cojones so large that they can be recognized from a very great distance. Thank you SweStar for proving that Saturday night is indeed, alright for fighting.

Friday Night Fights (Round 7)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another eye-gouging edition of Friday Night Fights! Tonight’s bout is all about a veteran’s quest for redemption and newcomer who doesn’t mind getting dirty. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:

Fighting out of the red corner…with a FNF record of zero wins and one loss…from the Badger State…Brian (mondayn00dle) Kescenovitz and his “Salvage Bot.”

Salvage Bot

And fighting out of the blue corner…from parts unknown…Hugebricks and his “Drossel”.

Drossel-01

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this pugilistic endeavor by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, Pate-keetongu won a decisive 4-1 victory over his hapless opponent.

Helios Invictus

I guess I’m a sucker for models featuring a yellow background this weekend; maybe I’m feeling nostalgic for my old apartment. At any rate, you are invited by LowestFormOfWit to gaze in astonishment at his latest creation, “Highlord Tyrestian’s XH9 Helios Invictus“. Highlord…

Angels on a pin

I suspect that Pascal (pasukaru76) has more of these delightful fellows coming, but for now we can make do with no-name and Raziel. His first two little LEGO neo-angels (presumably based on Evangelion) are just so cute.

Ooni Brute

Surprisingly, many LEGO fans have never heard of the Ooni or of Galidor, LEGO’s failed action figure line and TV series from 2002. In my ongoing attempt to make Galidor cool, I give you the Ooni Brute. I envision him as a foot soldier of an invading alien army. His helmet assembly isn’t for breathing air, but for regulating internal body temperature because the Ooni are cold blooded.

Duck and cover

In other news, legorobo:waka snuck this beauty onto flickr, right in between a wall of large and generally unoriginal pictures expressing dislike for flickr. Consider it a mecha chaser.

Imperial Guard family photo

TBB recognizes the importance of family on this day dedicated to mothers everywhere. Lego Admiral has been hard at work building up his force of Warhammer 40K futuristic killing machines and he has thoughtfully gathered them all together for a group-shot. The Valkyrie Assault Carrier hovers maternally above the tribe, and from left to right: Leman Russ Tank, Sentinel, Hydra Flak Tank, Chimera APC and the robust Baneblade Super Heavy Tank. Who can forget old uncle Baneblade?…lets just keep him away from the hooch this year. If you’d like to see close-ups of any member of the Imperial Guard family, Lego Admiral has thoughtfully included them in his photostream.
