DOOM is still a thing, right?! A couple of years ago I built a Miniland scale diorama of this classic videogame (there’s even a video that will take you right back to 1993). Below is a building guide for the game’s hero, commonly known as “DOOM Guy” (click here for embiggened version). This version is equipped with a basic shotgun. If you wanna kit him out with other hardware, or build him some enemies to blast, I’d suggest using photos of the original DOOM diorama as inspiration.
Since you all loved the LEGO Thunderjaw that we featured the other day, we figured you might enjoy a LEGO version of another creature from Horizon: Zero Dawn. This time it’s a Tallneck by South African builder Wayne de Beer. However, Wayne has not only recreated this majestic beast in brick form, he has also created instructions so that you can build your own!
In the same format of the instructions for my Ronin Titan, I present the first life size weapon build in this tutorial style: the M-6 Carnifex hand cannon from the Mass Effect series. See the list of parts needed, then follow the step-by-step video below and be prepared for the challenges the Andromeda Galaxy sends your way. The video shows techniques I commonly use for working triggers and slides on weapon builds at this scale, as well as one technique I sometimes use for angled pistol grips.
Even after six years, I still get requests for instructions to build the large Totoro that was part of my 2010 homage to the work of Japanese animator Hiyao Miyazaki. Sadly, that model is too large and complex to offer instructions, so instead here is a building guide for the medium Totoro that accompanied him. Of course, you don’t have to build him in the original medium blue; you can make him any color you like (or that your LEGO collection allows). I imagine this would make a lovely desk ornament for yourself, or gift for the anime-slash-LEGO fan in your life.

I’ve been meaning to create a Brick-moji building guide for a while – the problem was deciding which one(s) to feature! After a couple of failed attempts and with Valentines Day looming, I finally settled on the “Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes”, an emoji that consistently ranks among the top ten most widely used across the web (…the original that is, not my model).

Following up their firing LEGO Nerf gun, YouTuber AstonishingStudios shows how to construct another working Nerf blaster. Using pieces in your own LEGO collection and an additional spring, scissors, and Nerf darts (and tape and logo decals if you’d like), you can follow along his clear instructional video to build your own Nerf pistol.
The 8th season of the enduring cult hit Adventure Time airs tonight. To mark the occasion, here’s a guide for a LEGO version of the Peppermint Butler (aka The Dark One) that you can build yourself. This is one of the additional characters that I designed to complement the ones from the new LEGO Ideas Adventure Time set that we reviewed recently.
Kiki’s Delivery Service is a 1989 Japanese animated fantasy film produced, written, and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. The film’s protagonist Kiki is a trainee witch who has a black cat called Jiji as her best friend, and CK HO has built a fantastically cute LEGO version of Jiji the cat. Like most cats, Jiji has a lot of personality, but the English-dubbed version of the film showed Jiji with a cynical and sarcastic attitude as opposed to cautious and conscientious in the original Japanese.
We loved Jiji so much here at TBB that we asked CK to make some instructions and he very kindly obliged to allow us all to have a best friend called Jiji.

Have you seen an adorable, wide-eyed Lemur lurking around here? That’s A. Lemur, TBB’s resident dogsbody and mischief maker, and this green-fringed strepsirrhine primate has become something of a mascot for our site.
