Here is a little mosiac that I worked up this week. As some of our readers know, I’ve been dabbling in mosaics for the last year. This one is based on the 60’s version of the Batman logo as I am planning to attend Emerald City Comic Con next year and Adam West will be there. The plan is to have him sign it. Wish me luck!
First unveiled at Emerald City Comicon earlier this year, I’ve been itching to blog this gorgeous Batcave by Carlyle Livingston II and Wayne Hussey for nearly six months. Batman’s headquarters is built from over 20,000 parts, took more than 800 hours over twelve weeks to build, and weighs more than 100 pounds. The entire cave is beautifully lit up with lights.
Carlyle & Wayne’s Batcave includes four motors to operate a variety of features — the turntable for the Batmobile, a rotating costume/weapons selection wall, and the Batplane’s lift.
These detail shots show off some of the wonderful lighting effects and underground landscaping integrated into the Batcave.
This photo of Carlyle & Wayne with their masterpiece gives you a good sense of the scale of this massive structure. Wayne looks justifiably pleased with himself.

This project marks the first collaborative build between Carlyle and Wayne, with several more queued for future development. The features of this build include the Cave itself with what we think is the most “cave-ish” cave ever constructed. Added to that we have an operating turntable for the Batmobile, a moving costume/weapons selection wall and the BatPlane Lift. Surrounding all of this is the remarkable lighting effects that bring our BatCave to life.

Earlier today at BrickCon 2012 here in Seattle, LEGO unveiled 10937 Arkham Asylum. The set includes 1,351 1,619 pieces, will cost $160, and is due out in January 2013.

Bruce Lowell‘s art deco depiction of the Dark Knight is a beautifully composed artwork of the brick. If you like it, also check out the other art deco batman creation by Dave Kaleta.
Flickr user Tiler has recently been working through creating various vehicles from The Dark Knight Rises in Lego form. We featured his Tumbler models not long ago, but he’s been hard at work since then adding to the roster. Although we’ve seen many fantastic versions of Batman’s vehicles over the years, but what grabbed me about Tiler’s creations is that they’re in a much smaller scale than most of what we see, without lacking in detail. His latest vehicle is Bane’s truck, which is an awesome monstrosity, and Tiler has perfectly captured the extreme industrial-military look of it. Be sure to also check out his Batbike (below) and terrific Bat.
If you liked Arthur Gugick‘s Anakin-Vader lenticular mosaic, then you’ll love his recent one that depicts Batman and the Joker.
We’ve seen some great LEGO Tumblers here on TBB over the years, but this mini version by Tiler just might be my favorite.
With a great economy of parts and lighting to enhance the angles (black LEGO is especially tough to photograph), Tiler pulls it off wonderfully. He’s also built a batch of great camo versions:
FBTB has been providing detailed coverage the Lego news at Comic-Con. One of the big reveals besides the first Hobbit set are the 2013 Lego superheroes minifigs. They include Mister Freeze, Aquaman, White Suit Batman, Bane, Commissioner Gordon, Robin, Scarecrow, Joker, Penguin, Harley Quinn, Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Venom, Nova, Jonah Jameson, Doctor Doom, and Beetle. Calin‘s Bat Rod is a nifty creation, but the presentation really makes it stand out. In addition to the appropriate brown vintage background, the lighting texture on the model (especially the roof) is gorgeous.

Shannon Sproule (Shannon Ocean) has a very odd interpretation of the Batman in 2025. It’s for the LUGNuts 51st Build Challenge: Batmobile 2025.
2012 Batman and Superman sets are out a couple weeks early from LEGO Shop online. The new sets include 6864 The Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase,
which goes for $50 and includes five minifigs.
So far, the Man of Steel is only available in 6862 Superman vs. Power Armor Lex, which also includes Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman.
(And no, I haven’t forgotten about our giveaway of the SDCC 2011 exclusive minifigs. It’s just taken forever to scrub the comment data so I can properly — and fairly — randomize the entries. Apologies for the delay, especially now that you can buy your own Batman, but the person who wins him will still be getting the minifig on a card that was exclusive to Comic-Con, so hope you can forgive me…)
