I’m loving this little tachikoma by Lord Dane. It’s another creative new use for the figure bases from the new Toy Story army men set. Even if it’s not quite as brilliant as the motorcycle we featured recently, it still looks good, and makes use of an otherwise useless part. Better still, this tachikoma is true to the inspiration from Ghost in the Shell, and can accommodate a minifig.

Hello Kitty
Over on Flickr, Car_MP has just posted a great rendition of one of the more adorable pieces of Japanese culture. Although I’m more partial her boyfriend Dear Daniel, for obvious reasons, it’s hard not to be a fan of this creation.
This would also be great in the Big In Japan display that The Brothers Brick is organizing for Brickcon 2010.
Pazu saves Sheeta on a buzzy flappy thing that goes ブンブン
I’m not doing this on purpose, I promise. Right after I’d blogged Howl’s Moving Castle and Nausicaä, I saw this flaptter by MooseBot over on the left side of the page. I blame technology.
Hurray for Miyazaki!
Nausicaä soars on the wings of her Mehve glider, safe above the Sea of Corruption
Jon Hall brings us more Miyazaki goodness with Mehve, Nausicaä’s glider from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
What really struck me about this creation, though, is the custom minifig that Jon made.
The breathing mask is made from a minifig bandanna, while Nausicaä’s hood is made from a farmer’s cowl.
I’ve had enough of running away, Sophie. Now I’ve got something I want to protect.
There’s just something about the worlds of Hayao Miyazaki that inspire LEGO builders to new heights. This Howl’s Moving Castle by O-SAWA may be my favorite yet.
From battleship turrets and chicken feet to houses and a big orange tongue, O-SAWA’s castle has it all.

Red fighter from Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise
Apparently, an anime movie called Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise came out in 1987. Never heard of it, but this fighter by Mike Psiaki sure is awesome.
Howl’s Moving LEGO Castle
Imagine Rigney is the only builder I know to have built Howl’s Moving Castle beyond a microscale version. For a teenage builder, this is quite an achievement as he has captured the haphazard looks of the castle by using angled plates and a mash up of rusty colors. CubeDudes Invade!
Angus Maclane has been building like crazy lately. The craziness has manifested itself as CubeDudes, which appear to be famous characters with cubes for heads. They are adorable! He just posted oodles of these awesome little dudes. Click on the pictures to go to a gallery of related figures.

VOTOMS Scopedog
Johnny Tang built the Scopedog mecha from VOTOMS in all its armored magnificence. The creation stands about 1.5 feet tall and features a furnished cockpit revealed in the video below.

Editor’s note: This creation incorporates large amounts of non-LEGO elements from a brand called BTR or “Built to Rule,” from Hasbro. Despite featuring “mixed media” creations from builders like nnenn, something with quite so many clone bricks is a first for TBB, and has sparked off an interesting discussion in the comments. LEGO Luigi!
Tengen Taishi mecha by Phong Chang
I hadn’t encountered LEGO mecha builder Phong Chang until recently, but it looks like he’s been building some pretty cool mecha for some time. His latest is apparently an update to an earlier version, titled “Tengen Taishi” — inspired by the recent anime series Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann.
