LEGO Harry Potter 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes [Review]

The June 2023 Harry Potter wave included a standalone version of a shop that LEGO has produced once before: 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. We reviewed the full 75978 Diagon Alley set before – though it’s price has increased by $50 since then – so of course we’ll look at how this compares to the version in that set. Not everyone can afford or wants the whole Diagon Alley set, either, so is this a good value on its own? Here’s our review of the set, which contains 834 pieces and 7 minifigures, and is available from LEGO.com for US $89.99 | CAN $119.99 | UK £84.99.

This set is based on a license The LEGO Group has with the Warner Brothers films, not J.K. Rowling directly. The transphobic views expressed by Rowling do not reflect the values of The Brothers Brick or, indeed, those of The LEGO Group. The magical world Rowling created, in which many who felt a bit different could see themselves, meant a great deal to so many people, including those that Rowling now demeans. TBB affirms each individual LEGO fan’s choice to claim a piece of the world for themselves, or to reject it entirely.

LEGO Minecraft 21189 The Skeleton Dungeon [Review]

I know what you’re thinking: this isn’t a new LEGO set, Kyle. And no, it’s not. 21189 The Skeleton Dungeon has been out for almost a year now (August 2022). But this remains, in my opinion, one of the best sets for the money in stores right now. So this isn’t going to be one of those reviews where I leave you in suspense until the end to figure out what I think. Much like the mob spawner featured in this set, my praise is going to be popping up throughout the write-up. The set contains 364 pieces, 4 minifigures, and retails for US $34.99 | CAN $44.99 | UK £24.99.

I went out and bought my own copy of the set for a review. Actually, to be honest, I’ve bought five of them at this point. I can feel you judging me through the computer/phone/tablet, but by the end, you’ll see why.

Read on for our review of the set, which contains 482 pieces, 3 minifigures, and a Grimspawn, which can be pre-ordered now and will ship August 1st for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £46.99.

LEGO gives your favorite web-slinger the mosaic treatment in 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man [News]

Building on the success of the 31199 Marvel Studios Iron Man mosaic from 2020, LEGO once again fuses the Art and Super Heroes themes together in 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man. With 2,099 pieces, this set is a departure from the pointillism of past pop culture pictures, instead adding 3-D aspects to the image and imitating the Ben-Day dot style typical of comic books. The web-head’s portrait measures 21″ (54 cm.) by 16″ (41 cm), and is accompanied by an appropriately-themed soundtrack, as per usual for recent Art sets. 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man will be available from LEGO stores and their website starting on August 1st, and will retail for a price of US $199.99 | CAN $259.99 | UK £169.99.

LEGO Dreamzzz 71469 Nightmare Shark Ship: Can we save Mr. Sharkyjaw? [Review]

Today we start digging in to the sets from the brand-new LEGO original Dreamzzz theme! We brought you an overview of the theme and some background info at the beginning of May; now we start with the largest set in the first wave, 71469 Nightmare Shark Ship. If you’ve watched the first 10 episodes of the TV show, you’ll be be familiar with this fearsome conveyance; if you haven’t, then we’ve got you covered with pointers on how the set and the source material differ – and why it doesn’t really matter (* one minor grudge aside).
