Whether you’re trekking across the inside of your brain-pan, or just shooting dudes in a covert spy mission, this Inception-themed tracked Hummer by Project Azazel is sure to get you where you need to go. I’ve seen plenty of military Humvees before, but I think this is the first tracked one. The fact that it’s winter camo instead of grey, green, or tan makes it all the more interesting.
I see a lot of rockets and spaceships, and a lot of bases and landing pads, but I don’t see cool scenes of things using controlled explosions to escape gravity nearly often enough, and I’m guessing you don’t either. LukeClarenceVan‘s diorama satisfies admirably with what must surely be the most picturesque launchpad in the world. I’m not sure what the backstory is here, but I’m guessing this is the hidden lair of Bond villain.
No, not that one. You won’t find Jon Snow here–at least, not unless he’s being tortured by the orcs and trolls who do live here. This grim fortress by Hrczs1 is a terrifying jumble of textures and sharp pointy bits, and looks properly befitting to the dark wizard who commands it. For years I’ve marveled that so many people discount Bionicle and Hero Factory as worthless to adult builders. There are many, many fantastic examples that prove otherwise, and this stunning she-devil by Eero Okkonen (Pate-keetongu) is just the latest example of great ingenuity and creativity being displayed without using many traditional stud-and-tube bricks. The rubber bands forming the ties on the bodice, and the Bionicle chains forming the skirt are both phenomenal parts usages.
Pixar seems to be trending lately, and this adorable duo by legorobo:waka of Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. is just too awesome to not show you.
This mega-mech by SPECTRE. is armed to the teeth–or should that be shins? I love the cockpit here; it’s nice to see some deviation away from using an official windscreen in a typical manner. And SPECTRE’s added just the right amount of highlighting to really make all the details stand out.
Continuing with our Pixar theme for today, here’s a great model by Joshua Morris (I Scream Clone) of the the dentist’s fishtank in Finding Nemo. Sharkbait Ooh-ha-ha!
It’s always great for adult fan builders to show their awesome creations to the public, and one of the more regular ways the public is exposed to fan builds is through the community windows at official LEGO stores. For her local community window, Melanie F. built this delightful rendition of the house from Pixar’s beloved Up, in partnership with fellow fans CleverLittleMinx and ROOK.
There’s so much more to love about this awesome mech by Bermudafreze than just those transfixing blue Chima wheels, but I can’t take my eyes off of them. I think Bermudafreze holds the current title for best use of that part. The rest of the mech could stand on its own (haha) even without them, with that dark tan color scheme, great armor design, and sweet cockpit.
Gilcélio Chagas has made this lovely little marine diorama starring one of the coolest critters in the ocean, the seahorse.
Here’s a lovely use for a mosaic: use it to build a backdrop to your creation. Bluesecrets did exactly this with her latest build for her local LEGO store community window. (The community window is a small dedicated space in LEGO stores for adult fan clubs to exhibit.) This is a great example of using a mosaic for forced perspective to add depth to a diorama.
Tyler Clites‘ (Legohaulic) wonderfully animated little robot has been busy since last we checked in on him. He’s romanced a fair lady in a wonderful series of images, and now he’s taken to the arts, even growing a mustache for trying his Rembrandt imitation. Be sure to check out what all he’s been up to.
