Fifteen years later: One World Trade Center and 9/11 Memorial

Fifteen years ago today, the United States was attacked: one plane crashed in Pennsylvania, one plane was crashed into the Pentagon, and two planes attacked the World Trade Center in New York City. The attacks took nearly 3,000 lives and forever changed the identify of a nation and the course of the world.

Rocco Buttliere gives us this beautiful LEGO build of One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial, which are situated on the site where the Twin Towers once stood. We invite you to reflect on how the world has changed in the last 15 years and take a moment of silence today in remembrance.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts in LEGO

As Hagrid mentioned way back on his second day with Harry, “…yeh’d be mad ter try an’ rob it.” And because we long identified that Harry doesn’t always listen well and the first couple of books are chock full of foreshadowing, our heroes do in fact successfully rob Gringotts. I mean, it totally helps when you ride an angry dragon’s back out of the vaults.

Jared has recreated the scene of the dragon breaking out of the top of the bank, right before the last mad dash for freedom. The poor thing looks properly emaciated and pale from all its time in the dungeons.

Sneak peak at The Master: A LEGO Ninjago Short [News]

Following on from the success of The LEGO Movie, Warner Bros have announced both The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago movie. Yesterday, USA Today released a clip of an animated short from the latter, entitled “The Master battles a chicken”.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie is due in theaters September 22, 2017, and features a stellar cast including Jackie Chan as Master Wu. The short will play before Storks, due to open in theaters September 23, 2016.

Hive MotherSHIP Hh’alamand’ia

This will not be the last impressive LEGO ship we see this month. This beautiful behemoth from BobDeQuatre is much larger than it appears, being over 100 studs long.

The sculpting and colors on this are just lovely. I particularly like the use of the hot air balloon pieces near the bottom, as part of what looks to be a gun of some sort. The central flower reminds me of an ever watching eye, which is both awesome and creepy.

I invite you to spend some time pouring over the details, because Hh’alamand’ia is packed with them!

Life-size Blue and Gold Macaw in LEGO

Incredible LEGO Eiffel Tower stands over four feet tall

LEGO creations always have a story. Sometimes, when we find things online, the builder gives a very brief story; sometimes, we find something amazing, and do an interview so we can bring you a bigger story. BERG-LNZ (LEGO) Particle Acceleration Laboratory

We’re no strangers to science here at TBB, and love featuring these types of builds. Last year, we featured Jason Alleman’s lovely Particle Accelerator (which is part of the upcoming review round on LEGO Ideas). To compliment our collection of scientific stuff, I’d like to submit for consideration -Disty-‘s BERG-LNZ Particle Acceleration Library.

LEGO reveals even more Rogue One sets [News]

New Star Wars Rogue One LEGO sets revealed [News]

While we still have a three month wait for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the wait for new LEGO set information is drawing to a close. USA Today revealed two new sets, and Entertainment Weekly revealed the first buildable figure (Possible mild spoilers). The new sets should be available beginning September 30, 2016.

Gettin’ cozy at the South Seas Scallywag

It’s not often we get to feature the Western theme around these parts! I was quite excited to stumble upon Karen Metz‘s South Seas Scallywag. I see new details every time I look at it.

It’s such a great wild-west building facade. I love the planking on the walls, and the details on the upper floor.

But wait, there’s more! Take a peak inside and you’ll see a vibrant saloon filled with all sorts of characters and gorgeous detail.
