The BrickUniverse Lego convention is taking place in Dallas this year on November 13-15 at the Irving Convention Center. This is a 3-day convention for where builders can exhibit their creations, participate in games, contests, raffles and interact with the public during the exhibition on the weekend. Sean Kenney‘s latest Lego sculpture captures the magnificence of the Eiffel Tower in a giant model using 67,470 Lego bricks. At 7.25 feet tall, it’s even taller than the average NBA player! Check out the creation on MOCpages to see detail photos and behind-the-scenes shots of this iconic monument.
Many of us recognize the Sleeping Beauty Castle as a Disney icon, and thanks to the work of Stephle59 you can see what it looks like as a minifigure-scale Lego creation. The pink bricks set the model apart from just about any other castle I’ve seen. It doesn’t look like a bad place to take a nap!

There’s no shortage of greebles and details in this Lego model of Crowbar from Transformers by jake_tp. While the model makes use of some custom elements, they blend in well and contributes to the organic biomechanical look of this villain.
LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina was released last summer and continues to be a popular Star Wars set. It retails for $69.99 and is available on Amazon. Below is a brief video review and my remarks regarding the set.
This is one of the more unique and iconic Star Wars sets that’s not a ship or features an overabundance of gray or black. It’s a neat playset with unique colors such as the flesh colored plates on the landspeeder. There’s also an above-average number of minifigs with exclusives such as the Bith musicians, Obi-wan, Greedo and sandtrooper. The landspeeder is similar to the previous design from 2010, but the use of the flesh color and decals are welcome changes. The cantina is much improved over the 2003 version, and with some more effort, you can certainly expand the cantina to its complete design like Joshua Morris has done. The 578 pieces included in the set is typical nowadays for a Star Wars set with a $70 tag, but it’s a more reasonable buy at less than $60.
This Tron diorama by Tim Schwalfenberg perfectly captures the glowing cybernetic world of Tron and even features a crisp and detailed interior where the party has just begun.
The latest cool functioning creation from Jason Allemann is a Lego mosaic printer made completely out of official Lego elements. It uses a Mindstorms EV3 to scan an image and recreate it as a mosaic using 1×1 plates. Check out the video below or go to YouTube to learn how this creation was designed.
The hosts of Beyond the Brick is starting a Kickstarter project to produce a DVD of Brickworld Chicago 2015 featuring coverage of the convention and interviews with builders. For $20, you can get a copy of the DVD, but those who contribute more can look forward to custom minifigs and creations, and even commissions.

The model features remote-control steering, working lights and even a dauntless driver who you get to find out by watching the video below.
