About Josh

Josh is 30+ years old and has more Lego than he has hair. Which really isn't saying much. He builds mostly medieval creations, but dabbles in other genres. He is also a father and uses his kids as an excuse to buy Lego. That justification isn't working as well as it used to, so if you can think of a better justification, feel free to contact him. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Josh's Brickshelf gallery gets messier and messier. Josh also has a Flickr gallery, if you care about such things. He goes by the name "floodllama" there. If you wonder why he goes by "floodllama", you've obviously never owned a llama in flood. Josh feels sorry for you.

Rawwwwrrrrrr!

Nolnet shows us that there are no useless pieces with this dragon built out of Ben 10 alien bits.

Mega Knight is Mega Huge

Eric Harshbarger had made a Mega-MiniFig and I want it. However, this was a commission piece built for a toy store in Connecticut and they won’t let me even borrow it. But what a thing of beauty! Standing about 5 feet tall and using nearly 20,000 bricks, this fig is standing tall and living large.

It’s a Virus!

Hillel Cooperman gave us his take on the collectible minifigs earlier this month at BrickCon and I have to say that he expressed my feelings perfectly! Watch the video and tell me what you think. Just one word of warning, there is “adult” language in this video. So cover the ears of any kiddies who might be underfoot.

Many thanks to Nicole Snyder, of Dynamic Video Creations, who did the official videography at BrickCon and posted this video.

The Magic Shop

Takeshi Itou is an incredible Castle builder. One of the best. His latest creation is simply overflowing with whimsy and charm.

Kneel before Zod!

Chris Doyle has built an incredible rendition of the phantom zone, from the Superman movies. This is truly creepy.

Now that is a SHIP...

This gorgeous sea-going beauty belongs to Gerard Joosten and I was fortunate enough to handle it at BrickCon 2010. Christened the HMS Brunswick, it weighs in at 124 studs in length, 2.5 feet high and sports a full rig. Most impressive!

Lego Pirate Ship SHIP

In the Adult Lego Fan Community there is a rather famous acronym. It is mostly used in for Space creations, but sneaks into other themes from time to time. That acronym is SHIP and it stands for Seriously Huge Investment in Parts. It generally denotes a ship that is at least 100 studs in length. Someone once said that you aren’t a man until you’ve built a SHIP. I say you can’t call yourself a true shipwright until that SHIP is a fully rigged pirate ship.

On the Canal

This beautiful Dutch house is the work of Niek Geurts and it is lovely. I have friends in the Netherlands. Until they tell me differently, I’m imagining that they live here.

It was a Dark and Stormy Night

You all know that Nathan Proudlove rocks the Lego Fan world. At BrickCon he took the Castle section by storm with this incredible creation. There is so much to love in this one. Check out the variegated roof made of cheese slopes, the dark red water/blood that surrounds it, the skeletal trees, the carriage….the list goes on and on. It won “Best in Castle” at BrickCon and definitely deserved the win.

This time they will not fail

These dwarves aren’t going to take it lying down anymore. The vile, nefarious dragon is no match for their high-tech weaponry. This time things will be different. This time they will not fail.

Owl. By Jordan.

This is such an adorable little feathered guy, he was just begging to be posted. The combination of cuteness and presentation really does it for me. Well played, Jordan, well played.
