Tyler Sky has concocted the cutest little starfighter. I love the compact, nearly “chibi”, feel of this one. The tread-wrapped engines and transparent cockpit are just icing on the cake.

Taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to the Adult Fans of LEGO world!
As everyone who hasn’t been living under a rock knows, there is something about ALS and Ice Buckets making the rounds of the Internet. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is raising funds and increasing awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease, as it is sometimes known. I have had two family members succumb to ALS so today I took part in the challenge and I’m calling on my fellow LEGO enthusiasts to do the same! Specifically I’m calling out Tommy Williamson of BrickNerd, Guy Himber of Crazybricks and Sean Mayo who is just plain cool. Get your ice on!

Air supremacy
Proving that a LEGO model doesn’t have to be a spaceship in order to be totally swooshable, Dutch builder Red Spacecat has created the AV-24B Seahawk, an imaginary modern military VTOL gunship inspired by the AV-8B Harrier II jump-jet and AH-64 Apache helicopter.
As well as featuring the usual elegant lines and stud-free surfaces of his other builds, this one is also fully configurable and comes with all manner of interchangeable armaments, making for one fun toy!
And the attention to detail with stickering practically borders on the obsessive! It’s enough to make the model airplane builder in me salivate…
“Bound” trailer – the full length brickfilm
It has taken almost six years and about 43,200 pictures (give or take) but Gregory Tull‘s dream of a full length (give or take) LEGO stop motion movie has almost to come to fruition. 
They’re in post production now editing the roughly 50 minute long movie which is set to be released early 2015 – both online and hopefully limited theatrical release if they can find a distributor.

I’ve seen a lot of brickfilms, but what sets this apart from the rest, besides the obvious length, is the attention to detail and big budget effects – like the rain scenes. The rain itself is easy, that’s just computer effects. But the wet surface – well that is as horribly painful to capture as you might think: they sprayed the set with water, took the image, dried off all the LEGO, and did it again…. for every frame … for 3 months … but it looks pretty darn cool.
Martin the Warrior
I grew up reading the Redwall series, and despite the fact that the books didn’t vary much in plot (usually something to do with defending the Abbey, or rescuing the youngsters from some nefarious evildoers) the books still hold a special, nostalgia-tinged place in my heart.
Stormbringer takes a break from his series of dragons to post this much fluffier model of Martin, the hero of the very first book of the series.
The Northern Front – mecha in the snow

While the Mech itself is fantastic with its lovely colours and stickering, what really sets this apart for me is the addition of the beautiful micro trucks and outpost. I feel cold just looking at it.
Amazingly life-like LEGO sculpture of the Monkey King (孫悟空)
Tyler Halliwell is best known to our regular readers as a creator of amazing LEGO busts. So his latest work – depicting the Monkey King of Chinese mythology – is an ambitious departure in terms of its size and construction. We think you’ll agree that the attention to detail and the naturalness of this figure’s clothing and facial expression are completely mind-blowing!
We journeyed for several months across the Asian subcontinent, rescuing helpless villagers from all manner of demons along the way, to visit the mountain in which Tyler has been imprisoned for the past 500 years, so we could find out more about this creation…
BB: So how many hours and how many bricks went into this creation?
TH: That’s tough to estimate, but probably about 100 hours over the past two months, with most of it coming into shape in the past two weeks. There’s less pieces than you’d think, as it’s mostly hollow but for a technic frame. So if I had to guess, I would say around 1500 bricks.
BB: What inspired you to choose the Monkey King as the subject of your latest LEGO sculpture?
The LEGO Neighborhood Book [Review]
No Starch Press, known as the purveyors of many LEGO books written by LEGO fans, recently sent me a copy of their latest book exploring our favorite hobby, The LEGO Neighborhood Book. Written by brothers Brian and Jason Lyles, it explores the City Modular standard through pre-built creations, architectural techniques, and model instructions. The 204-page book is 8″x8″ with a high-quality soft cover, and the glossy pages with great color representation we’ve come to expect from books about LEGO.

Letranger Absurde combines lots of homy details with excellent landscaping in this little scene that evokes an underground tavern. The One Ring and two sai accessories as the handle and ironwork on the door are a really great parts usage.

Most BrickCon sessions default to “classroom”-type slots for of up to 50 minutes in rooms that can accommodate up to forty people, but time, room configuration, and space are flexible—just let us know. Computers with projectors are available in all session rooms (please see more below).

As a tribute to the beloved Belgian comic book series Tintin, Canadian builder Paul Hetherington has perfectly recreated the cover of one of my favorite issues, Land of Black Gold.
The characters seem to literally fly out of the page at you! I particularly like that this cover has given Paul the opportunity to use some lovely ultra-rare turquoise colored bricks, for the Thompson Twins’ chemically enhanced beards.
