I’ll take the railgun version

Joe A. (Dablackcat) combines Bionicle and System parts in his Shamgar mecha that he brought to BrickFair. Inspired by the AMP suit from Avatar, it certainly has that rugged clunky feel. I love the presentation and the option for different weapon attachments.

A tank built to kill other tanks

That’s what Fedde’s (Karf Oohlu) newest creation is all about. It’s a mono-tracked tank killer that’s great for speed but sucks at making turns.

Keith Goldman builds Logan’s Run

Keith Goldman‘s latest massive diorama presents his interpretation of the science fiction work Logan’s Run. At this scale, architecture really plays a role in capturing our attention. I am particularly drawn to the terraced vines and the sloped facets of the background structure.

The individual shots of the diorama are also unique, where each scene captured a separate story element. You should check them out on the Flickr set. And as a rare glimpse, Keith shows that there are boundaries to his creations, proving that he is “a man among gods, and a god among men.”

Ride the Lightning V2

Blue Lightning 02

This pilot and plane shot by Jon Hall doesn’t show off his Blue Lightning nearly enough but does make for a great picture. Do make sure to look at all the pics.

Kaching!

My Kachinas: Angwusnasomtaka, Talavai and Palavitkuna

Dave Shaddix likes to work to his own rulebook. In this case his rulebook told him to make three Kachinas: Angwusnasomtaka, Talavai and Palavitkuna. I love studs sideways sculpting.

For those wondering Dave has been kind enough to add a picture showing how it’s done.

The Harry Potter book series may have come to a conclusion, but the movies continue, with the first half of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows due out later this year. LEGO still has the Harry Potter license, and will be releasing a full line of sets on October 1st (the night of the LEGO Store event at BrickCon, by the way). For those of you not joining us in person, you can pre-order the LEGO Harry Potter sets today.

The fourth LEGO incarnation of Hogwarts Castle (4842)icon includes 10 minifigs and appears to be modular like the previous versions.

I’m personally most excited by the six new minifigs in 4840 The Burrow:icon

Again, the full line of six sets is available for pre-order now, and will ship on October 1. (The video games and board game are all available now.)

Finally, LEGO has free shipping on $75 or more from now through September 19th.

Just my type!

I really dig this new starfighter model by Fredoichi. I really enjoy the color choices here, especially as they also correspond with a split between smooth curves and interesting texture. The ship looks perfectly sized, small enough to be able to hold in one hand and swoosh around, but big enough to hold a minifig. It doesn’t look like the inside of the cockpit has been detailed, which is a lost opportunity, but doesn’t take too much away from the rest of the craft.

It’s also the archetypal fighter from R-Type.
