SimCity Launch Arcology by Zach

Zach Clapsadle takes us back to long nights sitting in front of a flickering cathode ray tube with his “Launch Arcology” from SimCity.

Micro Star Ferry Terminal by Chiukeung

Chiukeung presents the Star Ferry terminal in Hong Kong.

(In addition to eating a lot of great food and following my mom around while she shopped, I rode a Star Ferry when I visited Hong Kong in 1989.)

News: Fine Clonier Historical Figure Contest

Jared “Kaminoan” has announced a very cool contest with an incredibly cool prize: Create a historical figure using only official parts (no custom parts or decals) for a chance to win a chrome-gold C-3PO!

Head on over to Fine Clonier Forums to read all the details.

Now this is a contest I can really get into (assuming I haven’t exhausted my ideas already)!

Please pardon the dust...

EDIT: And we’re done. Everything should be back to normal now, with better performance and less downtime.

The Brothers Brick have outgrown the free hosting provided by a friend and we’re moving to a new hosting service. This transition should be completely invisible to most of you (for example, the blog’s Web address will remain Brothers-Brick.com).

To ensure that all the content gets moved over, I’ll temporarily be turning off comments. Also, some of you may not be able to access the site while the new server addresses propagate through the Domain Name System, but everything should be back to normal shortly.

Once the move is complete, readers should experience far fewer times when the blog is slow or inaccessible. In the meantime, thanks for your patience!

Legohaulic presents a sculpture of Marcus Fenix from the Xbox 360 game Gears of War.

This creation has a lot going for it. In addition to being a great representation of a cool character from a cool game, Legohaulic uses pieces in some very interesting ways. Check out the tan minifig arms used for Marcus’ jaws, the tires and wheels on his arms, and the minifig capes around his hips.

SkeleCrab by Mikey (Count Blockula)

Everyone’s favorite count has come up with a spooky giant skeleton crab out of two of those new skeleton horses from the Castle 2007 line:

“First Castle in 20 years” by RebelRock

RebelRock has recently emerged from a dark age and this is the result:

RebelRock has recently emerged from a dark age and this is the result. A really nifty classic-looking stronghold. It will be a pleasure seeing what this builder creates in the future if this is what they started with! Also, I’m jealous. Wish I’d built it….

A steamer on legs

Zachmoe’s latest is a beautiful piece. It’s very difficult making something look this thrown together, but the result Zach gets leaves me dumbstruck. Check it out on his flickr stream. It is based on this concept art from the Classic-Space concept gallery.

Edit: The original concept art is drawn by Keith Thompson. Thanks for the heads up Ethan!

Whoah. Blackout.

In the wake of the Transformers movie (and games), we see quite a few lego iterations of the robots. Adrian Drake’s Blackout is certainly one of the better. It looks great in both helicopter mode and bot mode:

Read about it on Adrian’s brickfrenzy.com or comment it on his flickr stream.
