An Amazing Contraption: Lego Ball Maze
Check out this phenomenal creation by Jason (True Dimensions). I love seeing real, working objects made with Lego, that function just as well as their traditional counterparts. Jason’s ball maze is fully working, and features an integrated, removable ball storage box, and interchangeable mazes in several different themes.

Lego Halo Reach M45 Tactical Shotgun
Nick Jensen has used Lego to build most of the human weapons from Halo. His latest LEGO Halo model is the M45 Tactical Shotgun, which took almost 2 months to make. In addition to its realistic looks, the model also has working features such as a sliding pump and ejecting shells, which you can see on YouTube.
Motorized Lego Tachikoma
Peer Kreuger (mahjqa) brings the finest examples of the wonders achieved with Power Functions. His Tachikoma think tank from Ghost in the Shell not only walks but also rolls and steers. In addition it features moving eyes and arms, all packed in a compact and beautiful design. Visit Flickr for more photos including pictures of the chassis.

LEGO Space Shuttle ascends to 115,000 feet [Video]
The Space Shuttle program may have ended, but in late December 2011, Romanian teenager Raul Oaida launched its LEGO doppelganger 35,000 meters (115,000 feet) into the upper atmosphere. Raul achieved this singular feat by stringing the LEGO shuttle beneath a weather balloon — with the permission of German air traffic control.
Read more about the launch on Raul’s blog. Thanks to the dozens of readers who made sure we posted this. ;-)
Instructions for RC tank chassis
The master of Power Functions vehicles Peer Kreuger (mahjqa) posted instructions to build a RC tank chassis. You can see a video demonstration of the chassis on Youtube as well as an example of what can be built on the chassis.
LEGO ISS built aboard International Space Station inside zero-G build bubble
Sending LEGO into space isn’t actually all that new, but an astronaut building a LEGO model of the spacecraft he’s in certainly is. Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa recently built a LEGO version of the International Space Station while aboard the ISS itself.
The full story and more photos are over on collectSPACE, and you can watch a NASA video on YouTube as well.
Gotta love that special build bubble to keep the LEGO elements from floating away to who knows where inside the ISS.
LEGO Friends + NXT = A Little Bit of Awesome
Anika Vuurzoon has combined two very different areas of our LEGO hobby and crafted a very cool, animated version of the Friends robolab. I would love to see the NXT used like this in more themes. Way to step it up, Anika!

The top video games of 2011 recreated in LEGO
Organizers for the 15th Interactive Achievement Awards approached Alex Kobbs back in October to create a montage of the top video games of the year, animated in LEGO. Alex used clips from some of his earlier animations, including the super-awesome Gears of War 3, and a whole batch of new animation to create the opening sequence shown in Last Vegas earlier this month.
And don’t miss Alex’s making of video.
