Tag Archives: Video Games

Even if you’re not an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo gamer yourself, and even if you’ve never played one of the many LEGO games, it’s hard not to appreciate the strange and stunning LEGO creations inspired by video games. Look for lots of LEGO models inspired by Halo, the Legend of Zelda, Gears of War, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, and more. Game on!

Kratos, God of War

Okay, last one of my own, I promise. ;-) Here’s Kratos from the PS2 game God of war:

Fire Mario vs. Thwomp

Graznador continues what appears now to be a series of LEGO creations inspired by Super Mario Bros. with his latest floating rock:

The Thwomp is unbelievably awesome.

News: Traveller’s Tales Confirms LEGO Batman: The Video Game

Hot off the virtual presses over at 1up.com:

Traveller’s Tales, the makers of Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy are now one brick of a larger company, Warner Bros. Interactive. However, don’t worry about this changing their focus from brickology, because WB has them hard at work on their next game, Lego Batman: The Videogame. Most of the details, much like Batman’s true identity, are currently unknown about the game. It’ll release sometime in 2008 on the current and previous consoles, as well as PC.

Sweet! Or rather, w00t! ;)

I’m-a gonna win!

Mike Count Blockula Crowley has so finished six characters in his series of large-scale minifigs inspired by Mario Kart since I first blogged Bowser back in January. Here are my favorites — and I can’t wait to see them in person at BrickFest PDX at the end of this month.

Mario and Toad:

Yoshi:

Donkey Kong:

Legohaulic’s Warthog and Spectre

Too many LEGO creations inspired by Halo look pretty much the same. Not Legohaulic’s:

Excellent. (Via Review’d.)

LEGO MMOG (!!!!!!)

Everyone’s favorite plastic LEGO brick has already been incarnated in digital form through thrid-party software (Ldraw), computer games (LEGO Island, etc) and other software (LEGO Factory), but coming to 2008, The LEGO Company, in parnership with NetDevil, is launching a Massively Multiplater Online Game. Excited? Check out the website and press release!

(Thanks to Brickfilms.com member Dan and Classic-Castle member Jake_Snicket for the headsup)

EDIT (AB): Added three more exclamation points to the post title. Just because this is the most awesomest ever.

Cog and Lancer by Alex Peacock

One thing my own Gears of War characters lacked was a properly brick-built Lancer rifle.

Alex Peacock corrects this situation with a great Cog armed with a Lancer of his own design:

Lancer - Pic 1

(Alex builds some great brick-only weapons — check out his rifle design, which I’ve used a couple times myself.)

Optimus Convoy and his Wii

Brickshelfer Optimus Convoy waves his Wiimote and makes the words “Wii” appear on his big-screen TV:

Lara Croft vs. T. Rex!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than ten years since eager computer gamers first began controlling the increasingly curvaceous (hurray for higher polygon counts!) Lara Croft in Tomb Raider games.

As always, Lara takes on a Tyrannosaurus Rex, utilizing her run & gun technique:

LEGO Gears of War minifigs

Characters from the Xbox 360 game Gears of War:

From left to right, Pvt. Damon Baird, Pvt. Augustus Cole, Sgt. Marcus Fenix, and Pvt. Dominic Santiago.

(I’m not as happy with these four as I am with the FFIII characters or Lara Croft, but I was dying to use my new BrickArms weapons again. :D)

Final Fantasy III Characters

To welcome all of you clicking through from Kotaku (and taking down our server for a couple hours yesterday — sorry!), I whipped together another batch of minifigs inspired by video game characters. This is the first of three posts.

Without further ado, here are the characters from Final Fantasy III for Nintendo DS:

From left to right, that’s Ingus, Luneth (as a black mage), Arc (ranger), and Refia (geomancer with bell).
