For no particular reason, here’s a second helping for today of some great character building from Russia. This time Dmitriy and Anna bring us this neat little model of every gamer’s favorite acerbic aristocratic adventurer, Lara Croft. And since the original game used third person perspective, it makes perfect sense that we get the reverse shot of Ms. Croft too, for old time’s sake.
Nick Jensen (Nick Brick) adds to his ever impressive arsenal of sci-fi Lego weaponry with the Titanfall EVA-8 Shotgun that features a removable drum magazine, trigger, and sliding pump. Check out more photos on Flickr.
Sometimes simple is better. This microscale model of Mass Effect’s SR-2 Normandy spaceship by Sydag doesn’t use many parts, but it captures the source brilliantly and is instantly recognizable.
Logan (∞CaptainInfinity∞) built this diorama based on the Team Fortress 2 map Upward. The dramatic sloping of the roofs and the distinctive base markings should make this obvious to any fan of the game, not to mention the minifig versions of the characters are so fun to look at.
The original Starcraft game came out almost 15 years ago and has spawned a decade and a half of Starcraft inspired LEGO builds, from the humble probe, to the hydralisk troops to even the imposing Battle Cruisers.
And today we add another great Starcraft build to the ranks – ccy_8086 has built this fantastic Protoss Zealot with a great mix of bionicle and system:
While there’s tons of great piece usages, the face in particular I thought was fantastic. But this isn’t the first time CCY has embraced his inner gamer, his last build was an equally impressive Space Marine, which he still has built:

Ever wondered what it would be like to go inside some of those classic video games? Could be fun, right? With my luck I’d get caught in Frogger. I’ve gotten worse at that one as I’ve gotten older–true story.
Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin)has created the Bob-omb Battlefield, from N64’s Super Mario 64, so his adorable little Bob-ombs have an environment just for them.
And because things like this are always better in person, if you’re in the greater Chicago area and want to check out some fantastic LEGO creations, you can check out the 12th Annual Christmas LEGO Train show this weekend. That sounds like a great way to beat some of the chill!
How do you follow something as amazing as Rivendell? Well, Mike Nieves (Retinence) may have used fewer bricks in this version of Rapidash from Pokemon, but he’s mastered them well. Mike is a long-time adept at creating organic curves with LEGO, and the rippling muscles and mane of this creation prove it.
Choose wisely, as these delicious-looking mushrooms, by Dirk VH, are quite the power-ups! Weighing in at ten pounds a piece, the center one is the retro version of the power-up that turns Mario into Super Mario, while the blue one shrinks him down. The green one, of course, is the much sought after “1-Up” that gives you an extra life. Check out the time-lapse construction video as well!
I meant to blog this next model back when it debuted in September, but something shiny must have distracted me from the Titanfall R-101C Assault Rifle by our old associate Nick Jensen (Nick Brick). Working features include: removable magazine, moving trigger, sliding charging handle, flip-up iron sights and a detachable HCOG sight that lights up. The rifle is a replica of the one used in the video game Titanfall, and purists can breathe easy because even the sling has the lego logo, although the builder does not specify where it comes from.
I was initially unsure of the story behind this, but had to post it for no other reason than it made me laugh. However, upon further investigation it appears that it’s creator, Sweetsha is in a competition with 74louloute utilizing the brown claw pieces. Then it made it all the more funny because I thought that bunny looked familiar.
I will have to be sure to watch this rivalry as it transpires.
I have to admit that I’ve never played the popular video game Portal or any of its sequels, but I like to think I know a good diorama when I see one. I’ve been entirely too verbose this weekend, so I’ll just let this lovely image by eldeem do the talking. I will say that I really like the lift-arms under the platform, and the placing of the various elements in this shot is perfect.
According to the Ryan you can even actually play this course yourself, if you’re into that sort of thing.
