MOCs of the LEGO Masters: Cullen House designer sparkles with sister

Nick Micheels (aka LobsterThermador) sent many a Twilight fan swooning with his Cullen House MOC that became an official LEGO Ideas set earlier this year. The builder shows that he’s as nimble as Edward, switching from minifig to miniland-scale with ease. He brought that versatility when to the cast of LEGO Masters Season 5, alongside his sister Kyndall.

Worried that Nick’s mostly-bloodless vampire builds mean his builds lack bite? Yeah, right. Nick has a wicked sense of humor in his LEGO subjects.

This is part of our series on MOCs of the Masters where we preview the work of the newest batch of LEGO Master contestants. Have a look at creations from other builders in the lineup.

ABrickDreamer dazzles with this sparkling microscale Cullen House

Davide Sacramati (aka ABrickDreamer) is a wiz at shrinking big LEGO sets into microscale versions (see his itty bitty Viking Village, Avengers Tower, and Rivendell). Davide’s latest project shrinks 221354 Twilight: The Cullen House onto an 8×16 footprint without losing any of the modern architecture charm. The middle floor in dark orange includes some clever problem-solving, like the legal-ish technique of wedging tiles between studs for the pillars on the right. In a video break-down Davide opens up the build and shares insights, like when to use SNOT building and how certain choices were made to accomodate gaps in his parts collection.

While Davide doesn’t need a reason to shrink sets, this model coincides with the LEGO Micro Build Tournament sponosred by Toys N Bricks that runs through April 1, 2025. Feel inspired? Shrink a set yourself and maybe you can win a copy of Tudor Corner!

In a Twilight world of Team Jacob or Team Edward, be Team Bella’s Truck

Twihards may already be aware that the official LEGO 21354 Cullen’s Home set is coming out soon. It certainly got onto the radar of Sseven Bricks but not necessarily for reasons of buff, shirtless werewolves or brooding, sparkly vampires. While both factions aren’t without their charms, Sseven took special notice of one feature included in the set: Bella’s 1963 Chevy C10 Pickup. Not only that, but Sseven saw the unmistakable fingerprint of LEGO Designer Adam Grabowski and decided to preemptively build their own version of the pickup before the set came out and without instructions. Being a car guy and a fan of Adam, I would have done the same — all the while reveling in the truck’s classic design and also reveling in the fact that I’m a Jacob Girl all the way. You heard me, glittery vampires; get your sparkly asses the hell off my lawn!
