Lino Martins is a great guy. But he’s even better when he’s rendered in Miniland scale. Sporting his trademark goatee, Lino poses with Passion, built for the “Color Me Strange” Challange on LUGNuts.

Bumper car fun with Danila Martyakhin
Russian LEGO fan (and fellow LEGO Ambassador) Danila Dandily Martyakhin has posted a gorgeous bumper car diorama.
Click through for “daylight” photos on Brickshelf, but I just love this “night” shot:
The bumper cars themselves are worth a closer look:

Alice’s Adventures in Alex Eylar’s LEGO Wonderland
Alex Eylar (Flickr) has built a series of scenes that reinterpret Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland with a decidedly modern twist.
Here’s the quote on which the scene above is based:
She was considering in her own mind whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.
To see several more scenes from Alex’s LEGO Wonderland, check out his page on MOCpages or his Flickr photostream.
Lighthouse Island
Check out this peaceful lighthouse scene that has a classic-town theme feel to it created by Matija Grguric (the builder who brought you Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye). Take note of the incorporation of this raised baseplate into the creation.
Them are some big bikes
Milto recently unveiled a couple of really nice bikes. I did a double-take. At first glance, I thought they were real…
Think heavy, build light
Jarek‘s nifty power loader model looks like it can handle some serious weight-lifting with those powerful looking arms. Far from clumsy, a creation like this takes some skilled and nimble craftsmanship with the brick, something that Jarek has mastered well. Check out the gallery for more pictures and in-action shots.
The Dave Shaddix Home for Wayward Girls
I’m breaking an old rule and a brand new one here. Brothers Brick debutante Heather (Flickr) shows the boys how to do it with her super detailed Doll’s House. In break from tradition I borrowed its name for the blog post because, quite frankly, it’s awesome.
Credit to Shannon Ocean and Mastergongfu for the heads up.
LugPol go to town
A good diorama always impresses me and this is a fine example. The members of LugPol (the Polish LUG) have combined forces to present a beautifully integrated display at the Museum of Toys in Kielce. Karwik’s (Noddy) photos provide both overviews and close-ups of the details making me even more disappointed I couldn’t be there.
Counting down to BrickCon 2008 and the Zombie Apocafest
Update: Zombie Apocafest 2008 is now over, and it was awesome. Don’t miss our full coverage here on The Brothers Brick:
BrickCon 2008 is less than a month away. The list of attendees is growing, and it’s starting to look like this will be the first 200-attendee BrickCon!
Today and tomorrow are your very last chance to register at the $50 price (registration goes up to $60 on Tuesday, September 8), and the last window of opportunity to guarantee your personalized brick badge engraved by Brick Engraver.
Plans for group projects at BrickCon 2008 are well underway, with lots of progress on the Zombie Apocafest and ChiefLUG Initiation.
To sweeten the deal, The Brothers Brick will be handing out some cool prizes and giveaways:
- Custom-engraved bricks to add to your badge for everyone who contributes a vehicle or building to the LEGO Zombie Apocafest
- 10190 Market Street
for the best building in the zombie layout
- 10200 Custom Car Garage
for the best vehicle in the zombie layout
If you’re worried that you don’t have any LEGO zombies — don’t sweat it. We’ve got you covered with a horde of at least 80 zombies.
And for those of you who can’t make it in person this year, there’s still the GO MINIMAN GO Photo Contest with even more prizes! The contest is open to everyone over 18 worldwide, and entries are already stacking up in the GO MINIMAN GO photo pool, so take a look at the rules and try your hand at a scene inspired by the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, or 2000s.
Michael Jasper’s shopping cart
The Genius of Tiny Things, Michael Jasper recently posted a new minifig accessory — the shopping cart:
And for those who missed it, a very tiny motorcycle:
Party’s on at Noddy’s motorcycle clubhouse
Karwik (Noddy), the guy with the bikes, is throwing a big party at his motorcycle clubhouse, and gosh is the scene lively. With so many people and bikes to check out and details aligning every corner, this is something you don’t want to miss. Oh, and the fun‘s just getting started, check out the details gallery ;)
Taking back our streets from the LEGO zombie horde
BrickCon is just around the corner. In fact, if you don’t register before September 8th, the price goes up to $60 and you won’t be guaranteed personalized stuff like engraved brick badges.
My contribution to the LEGO Zombie Apocafest display we’re organizing is an auto repair shop and a fire station in a diorama that I’m currently calling “The Outbreak”:
Zombies converge on the residents of my modular buildings as they attempt to fight back. The architecture may have been the focus of my building energies for once, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t neglected some good, old-fashioned minifig action:
Please see my Outbreak photoset on Flickr for a ton of pictures.
