If the Emperor gets his personal guards, why can’t the dark lord himself? When I found those red Darth Vader helmets on Bricklink, I knew what I had to do.

Walking with giants
It’s been a while since Matt (aka lowlead) built, but he shows that he’s still got the skills, in fact… amazing skills! Matt’s AT-AT has been evolving for more than seven years, and the latest v4.0 shows the AT-AT in it’s fullest grandeur.
Here’s more information on this model:
“Although somewhat conventional in construction by today’s standards, this MOC represents more than seven years of evolution and has been a favorite of mine ever since version 1. When I first saw Dave Eaton and Shaun Sullivan’s Hoth diorama, I had to build a UCS style AT-AT of my own.
v4.0 better represents the actual ILM models with a re-designed head, legs and drive cams that articulate in the manner they do in EpV, a new neck, a higher center body section, and a completely re-designed drive section using some metallic wheel hubs from the Silver Champion race car.
Due to weight (it’s reeeeeely hefty) and structural issues, this remains a sculpture MOC, with no interior…for now.
The only disadvantage of fully poseable legs is the mandatory support stand. While it stands free when the legs are positioned straight, the doubled-up clicky joints just aren’t hearty enough to support its weight when the knees are bent, or the legs positioned fore or aft.”
Porkins by Mike Crowley
Mike Crowley is one of the most talented builders in the universe and a really nice guy too! (Go to Chinese food with him sometime, its great.) He is also the only person I know who has gotten an official copyright on his screen-name (“Count Blockula”, all rights reserved by Mike Crowley).
Check out his latest: Porkins and his finger!
AT-ST: Design by Dmac, built by MisterZumbi
Now here’s a cool collaboration story. According to this post on Klocki, dmac designed this AT-ST in MLCad, and then MisterZumbi built and photographed it:
I really like the new AT-ST from LEGO, but this one is awesome! Note the samurai armor under the walker’s “chin.”
Mike Psiaki soars through the clouds
It’s been more than a year since we’ve blogged something by Mike Psiaki, but I think it’s been worth the wait.
Here’s Mike’s World War II era X-wing:
And his tiltrotor:
Legohaulic’s Tri-Angel
I wouldn’t want to run into Legohaulic‘s entry in the FBTB Uglies contest in a dark corner of that galaxy far, far away.

More 2008 LEGO Castle, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars set pictures [News]
Well, it’s that time of the year again. Fans everywhere are running across better and better pictures of upcoming sets. Eurobricks is famous (dare I say notorious?) for finding leaked pictures, and this latest batch is no exception.
Bearing in mind that we don’t yet know if these are just prototypes, and that LEGO has not yet confirmed that these are even “official,” here are a few of my favorites (see Eurobricks for bigger pictures and several more I didn’t include here):
7622 Race for the Stolen Treasure:

7620 Motorcycle Chase:

7668 Rebel Scout Speeder:

7036 Dwarfs Mining:

7048:

Of particular note for Castle fans:
- Trolls in brown and green.
- Green dragon with armor.
- Two new helmets for the goblins and two more for the dwarfs.
- A new sword for the goblins and a new club for the trolls.
- Two new beard designs for the dwarfs.
Sandshark by Don Solo
Whether it’s Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, a little ‘shopping can go a long way toward improving the presentation of a LEGO creation. Don Solo puts his own spin on Adrian Florea’s entry in the “X-wing Evolved” contest, and then kicks things up a notch with a great backdrop.

I noticed this in one of my Flickr feeds last month but thought that someone had just mis-tagged it “LEGO” (as sometimes happens). But then I saw it again in nnenn‘s photostream when I was blogging a couple of his recent microscale creations a few minutes ago. Knowing that nnenn only posts LEGO creations (well, mostly LEGO), I did a double-take. Yes, in fact, it is LEGO:
This is by far the best TIE fighter I’ve ever seen built from LEGO. Notice especially the detail between the upper and lower wings and the hinges used to angle the border around each wing. (According to nnenn’s description, the only non-LEGO is a few pieces of black tape to cover Technic holes and to create the stripes on the cockpit.)
Microscale links for August 5, 2007
The “Brickshelf crisis” seems to have interrupted the momentum of Microspacetopia, and ApocaLEGO (yes, we made a category), but that doesn’t mean people aren’t still building cool new microscale creations.
First up, a fueler by Cygnus, and (my favorite of this batch) a nine-piece creation called “Earwig” by Ean:

Via MicroBricks, a full range of Star Wars mini vehicles by nnenn (whose photostream on Flickr contains far more cool microspace creations than I have time to blog):
Dino/chicken walker!
FBTB member dotbstudios has apparently discovered that the new AT-ST set uses the same connection for its legs as the Dino Attack T-rex. This was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing. :D
