Marek Markiewicz was sorting his LEGO recently and ended up building this cool monowheel instead. The wheel itself is built from 1×2 plates partially pushed together on one side.
Thanks for the suggestion, Dave Shaddix!

Johnny Frye (Dr. X) has built a couple of neat starfighters. They’re both meant to have been built by the Japanese in the early days of star travel.
If you look closely, you can see that the Tsing-Nasu (below) is an improved version of the Tsing-Yoichi (right). This improvement is attributed to an evolution in design by the minifig designers, but it can also be ascribed to the builder himself. The Yoichi was his first attempt, and the Nasu is his attempt to improve on that first design.
I respect when a builder takes the time to revise a creation, and try to improve it, even if the original was quite good to being with.
Drawing inspiration from the graphic novel Cyann, t-brick has built a beautiful futuristic city diorama. It also reminds me of Silverberg cover art. The use of colour and repeated motifs is spot on and gives the diorama a wonderful consistent overall feel.
It also gets bonus points for letting me use lots of different theme tags.
Jordan Schwartz (Sir Nadroj) has been working on a project to create the visual lighting and effects of a teleporter. The setup includes lights from LifeLites and a fog machine. These two components creates an out of this world ambience in the final display of the creation.
Ever since I started posting my various tan alien creations, people have been asking more background on the aliens and the creations.
I’ve finally gotten around to making one up, and telling it. I tried something new, and have created a comic describing illustrating the initial encounters between the aliens and the Galactic Inquisition.
It’s my first foray into LEGO comics (or any other kind of comic writing) so I hope it reads well, and I’m sure folks will let me know if it doesn’t. [Edit] Folks have asked, so I’ve started putting up photos of the new stuff that I created for this comic.
The results have been announced for the Show Us What You Got Contest over on Flickr. As one of the judges in this contest, I must say that this was an extremely tough choice. There were so many fantastic entries that it was hard to narrow things down and produce only four winners.
I’ve posted a mosaic of all the entries below, and you can check them all out in the entry thread. Don’t forget to check out the First, Second, Third, and Fourth place winners, as well.
Justin Vaughn (Mainman) has been using Bionicle parts from 8978 Skrall to create this novelty space faction called the Hellionic Conclave. The primary features of these diabolical creations highlight the interesting shapes of Bionicle elements mixed with the standard System bricks.

Invaders from another galaxy, the nefarious Ugokin have taken over www.neoclassicspace.com. They have hijacked the site for their own nefarious needs, and are using it to spread propaganda of their alleged victory over the Federation.
You can count on Ed Diment (Lego Monster) to build one megasized spaceship for the 30 year anniversary of LEGO Space. Unlike other SHIPs, the Sapphire Condor can deploy a remote controlled ground vehicle. Of course, you have to see it to believe it; check it out in the video below.
You can read more about the creation including a backstory and notes from the builder on the Neo Classic Space blog.
Our love affair with StarCraft-inspired LEGO continues, as does my enjoyment of the LEGO StarCraft creations by Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin):
For more pics, check out Matt’s LEGO Protoss Probe photoset on Flickr. Thanks for the tip, Andy!
I’m not sure whether it’s the unique color scheme or the shape, but I find Cole Blaq‘s Soylent Scream menacingly beautiful.
More photos of Soylent Scream on Flickr.
I can’t wait for the new LEGO Space Police sets coming out later this year (August, maybe?). Gorazd Vahen (kaitimar) seems to share my impatience, as he demonstrates with a pair of excellent vehicles he designed himself.
The Spike is being pursued by a police cruiser. Gotta love that orange stripe.
