Films and the cinema provide a lot of great inspiration for LEGO builders all over the world. You’ll find LEGO models inspired by everything from Mad Max to Toy Story here.

Indy bignettes by Brian Williams

Brian Williams posted two new Indiana Jones bignettes (big vignettes). As with his works, I’m really impressed by the presentation, both the photography and the creations themselves.

The Rocket Escape is composed of four standard 8X8 vignettes. The construction of the rocket is elegant for such a small scale. After staring at the large image, I still can’t figure out how it’s made. The Beersheba scene features great use of the Prince of Persia parts, but my favorite detail is the octagon base edged with rubber bumpers.

The only upsides are the pets.

I, like so many others, adore How to Train your Dragon. The characters are great, the story is engaging, and it’s an entertaining movie. And I LOVE Toothless. He cracks me up to no end.

So Taylor Baggs diorama of Toothless and his budding trust for Hiccup caught my eye, for sure.

The last of the V8 Interceptors

Patrick (Jason son) has given us an excellent rendition of Mad Max’s car. I’m not certain of how common this car ever was as a police interceptor in Australia, but I like to think that they’re running around all over the place. Remember, two men enter, one man leaves.

Welcome to the first and – hopefully – last Island Open!

It’s hard to believe that the last episode of Lost airs tonight. Unlike 24 (which my wife and I finally gave up watching earlier this season), I’ll really miss J.J. Abrams’ odd creation.

Ryan Wood (lights) commemorates the end of six great seasons with a couple of odd creations of his own — CubeDude Hurley and John Locke.

Hurley sports his usual curly locks, while John Locke has an orange peel in his mouth.

Well, at least we still have Fringe, and Super 8 comes out next year (along with a possible Cloverfield sequel).

Lego Iron Man privatizes world peace one brick at a time

I just watched Iron Man 2 this weekend, and I’m happy to see that Peter C. has captured the awesomeness of Iron Man in an action figure sized build. The head is a custom Lego-compatible piece from Hazel’s Amazing Armory, the core is a Clickits icon.

Frakking Sweet!

Stefan has built what is quite possibly the best Battlestar Galactica Viper I’ve ever seen. I realize that I’m risking life and limb by saying that, but I’m willing to take that risk. Ryan can beat me up at Brickcon if he wants to.

I want one so I can run up and down the hallway swooshing it around. Bea-ut-i-ful.

Battlestar Rubycon, a 4’9″ SHIP

Garry King‘s massive Battlestar Rubycon from Battlestar Galactica is yet another impressive SHIP that you shouldn’t pass up. If you’re also a fan of the franchise, you may be interested in the fan-fiction story for the ship on MOCpages.

The repetition of ribbed textures on the hull is a distinctive feature of this creation. They are best viewed in this picture below:

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

So…I like Mythbusters. I mean…who doesn’t? Those guys use any excuse to blow things up. It cracks me up.

So I recognized the diorama that Johnathon Gilbert posted…I even recognized the myth:

Disney and Star Wars. A match made in LEGO.

Tommy Williamson‘s first attempt at a sculpture shows just why he does what he does. Cause he’s clearly fantastic building with bricks.

Lost? Not so much.

Bart Willen has posted a fantastic Little Bo Peep, who may indeed have lost her sheep–but all she needs to do is look behind her.

After seeing the full trailer before Alice in Wonderland, I’m even less inclined to go watch the movie, but I’m rather excited by all the new stuff in the Prince of Persia LEGO sets.
