This mosaic, by Andy, is a real eye-catcher. I love the split view of MegaMan and the background gives it a great look.

Speak Friend and Enter
This gorgeous mosaic of Tolkien’s Doors of Durin is simply incredible. Karyn did a wonderful job of capturing the look and feel of the doors. On top of that, the whole thing is done with Modulex. As far as I can tell, this is only the second time we have highlighted a Modulex build here on The Brothers Brick (See the first one here).
The builder has also created a blog, called MiniBricks Madness, to highlight these lesser known siblings of the bricks we all know and love. For a history of Modulex, check out this article, “Saving Modulex” by Sly Owl.
Many thanks to Bruce for bringing this to our attention.
Beautiful, beautiful cheese floors
I’m consistently wowed by the geometric designs that Katie Walker fiddles with and frequently shares. It’s extra rewarding when she incorporates the results of her experiments into beautiful architecture like this grand staircase and mosaic floor.
Red Devil in Stained Glass
I must say I agree with Chris Doyle: octopus (or in this case, squid), are very cool animals. And fittingly, Chris has shown once again they make excellent subjects for mosaics.
The man in black
He wears it for all kinds of reasons, but especially because he’s awesome. A mosaic of Johnny Cash by .cHris.tOpHeR..
Stained glass with octopus design
Chris Doyle‘s stained glass creation features a complex octopus design. It incorporates both transparent bricks and plates for a more detailed depiction. I’m still left to wonder why an octopus?
Arpy has Pac-Man fever
Did you know that the red ghost in Pac-Man was named “Blinky”?
Ean (Arpy) knew that, and built a lovely mosaic using Technic pins axles instead of bricks.
Wakka wakka wakka!
Celtic Beast Mosaic
The Lee Family has been knocking out some pretty fun creations lately. My personal favorites are the Celtic mosaics, but you should check out the portrait of the Dalai Lama as well.
Bruce interviewed Craig Lee recently and has posted part of the conversation on the front page of Classic Castle.
Getting in the spirit of Halloween
With Halloween approaching, Douglas Hill creates a chilling mosaic that uses so many shades of colors that I lost my head trying to keep track of them all. Can you identify all the brick colors that were used? I’ll bet it ain’t easy.

Thanks for the tip Chip Philson! ;)
Jeweled Mosaic by Hill
This 3d mosiac by Douglas Hill is quite unusual. I keep staring at it and I like it more and more all the time. The whole is made of headlight bricks with jewels stuck in them, and then lit from the back. Wish I’d thought of it…

Mosaics of unrivaled ingenuity
Brandon Griffith (icgetaway) displayed two knockout mosaics at BrickCon last October. In addition to their enormous proportions (scale picture 1 and 2), these mosaics are constructed from effective and unusual building techniques. The first, called See Your Enemy, depicts the scene from the Matrix when Neo sees the real representation of Agent Smith. The mosaic uses transparent elements placed on top of traditional colors for an added layer of texture.
The second is a representation of the artwork from the Criterion Edition of Akira Kurosawa’s “Throne of Blood,” it uses a combination of plates, tiles, and even slopes for a variety of textures. Click here for a high resolution of the mosaic to see the details.
