We all love a good LEGO Gundam or Macross mecha, but LEGO builders everywhere are also creating excellent models of their own designs. Have a look at them here.

Friday Night Fights – Koma Combat

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! Tonight we’re recapping the best of Marchikoma – the yearly think-tank build month. Let’s go to the tale of the tape.

In the Bley corner we have Cole with his Jigatsu MZ-5000 (with cool truck):

In the Green corner we have Blaq with his AMT 853-JH:

Yes you read that right, Cole vs Blaq, in the first and probably only FNF self contest – Despite my best effort, Cole Blaq’s efforts last month was jaw dropping good. And of course if you missed any Koma’s – you can see an overview of all the builds here.

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this bout by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, Micro GARCs, Jacob wins the race 8-5 ! Tune in next week for another action packed edition of Friday Night Fights!

Gomikoma will eat your garbage, and your car

Galaktek brings us a whimsical creation that looks like it would be right at home in The Lego Movie. It looks completely ridiculous and over the top for garbage collection, which is part of what makes it so great. Watch out for those dumpster claws!

鰹屋 Katsuyakoma

Thanks to : Volume X :, I’ll be thinking of blue Monday in a positive light from here on out. This think tank looks very cool, with great details and shaping throughout. The builder has made especially good use of xpod lids and cement mixer drums. The sticker usage is also superb, adding just the right touches of detail.

Pneumatic powered cargo lifter

Yes, we like Mechs on The Brothers Brick, and I know we just posted some great ones just a few days ago, but this Heavy Loading Mech by Evan (LegoJunkie) is just too cool to pass up:

AP 35-T Cargo Lifter.

Set in the far future where Mega-corporations run rampant and these monster mechs are necessary to stock shelves. While Evan brings us a really unique mech and background story, but what makes this go from cool to LEGO-Movie-Awesome are the pneumatic functions he puts in:

Pauper and Prince

It’s 2-for-1 mecha tuesday, and zi zy is presenting us with both the bare-bones rough and ready groundpounder;

As well as his fully tricked out, all options included ivy league cousin. Heated leather seats and extra large cup holders come standard.

Microfig-scale Cherno Alpha is ready to kick kaiju butt

Jason Corlett spent 70 hours making this faithful replica of the hulking Cherno Alpha jaeger from Pacific Rim. Standing almost three feet tall, this build looks ready to cancel the apocalypse all on its own.

Blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne

There’s been something of a renaissance in computer rendered Lego builds lately, and leading the charge is the prolific Garry (Garry_rocks).

Using parts in colors that have never been available toes the line of what I consider cheating, but there’s no question that the results are stunning. I’m particularly fond of these two fearsome builds from the Warhammer 40k universe.

Twins of destruction

This pair of mechs by Simmon Kim had me question if what I was seeing was indeed made out of Lego. The builder’s use of custom decals elevates these models to a new level of realism, giving them the quality of seemingly coming from a model kit.

Mechs on a Train

legorobo:waka shares this awesome armored train carrying a squad of tough looking mecha. The train’s brutal lines and tank turrets evoke a dieselpunk style, with just the right amount of detail mixed in alongside the solid slab-like surfaces.

Friday Night Fights (Round 37)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! Tonight it’s a classic match of bots not seen since the rock’em sock’em days of old. Let’s go to the tale of the tape.

In the Yellow corner, Lu Sim (Messymaru) enters his thorough-breed beefy boxer:

[Frame Hu_BETA] GIGAS_Phase 2

In the Blue corner, ZephyrChaos comes in with sleek and agile fighter:

Luna (primal)

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this bout by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, the valentine’s day special there was truly love in the air as Nathan and Chris just kinda hug it out with a 4-4 tie. SD Command Gundam by Moko

Growing up in Japan in the 80’s, one of my favorite toys (other than LEGO, of course) was little plastic models of the SD Gundam characters. Moko (Flickr) might be a bit younger than I am, but we do share a love of these adorable little mecha.

Don’t be deceived by the diminutive source material — this is a substantial model with an amazing amount of detail. Just look at the subtle grooves around Gundam’s mouth!

COMMAND GUNDAM

The full load-out is also impressive:

You can run, but you won’t get far

Milo_Z comes back from hiatus with a vengeance, posting this killer mech inspired by concept art from St Theo. Possessing a gangly greeblyness that’s not often seen in mecha, this is the last thing any fugitive would want to see on their trail.

The color combinations are particularly nice, with each color tied to a different function on the mech. And despite the spindly appearance, it even fits a fig!
