LEGO announces a pair of holiday botanicals coming to the Icons line, now available for pre-order [News]

The holidays seem to come earlier every year. And with LEGO announcing new Christmas sets before the end of August, it’s certainly feeling that way once again. But these aren’t the typical holiday-themed offerings from the brickmaker of note. These two new LEGO Icons sets are a part of the Botanical Collection. First up we have LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia, with 608 pieces and tons of sharp angles. And there’s also LEGO Icons 10340 Wreath – a more “adult” take than the past offering of set LEGO 40426. The verdant yuletide toroid is made up of 1,194 pieces, and features interchangeable accents in red, white, or blue. Both sets are available for preorder starting today, with global release on October 1. LEGO Icons 10340 Wreath retails for US $99.99 | CAN $129.99 | UK £89.99, and LEGO Icons 10370 Poinsettia is going for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £44.99. LEGO Icons Botanical Collection 10369 Plum Blossom [Review]

LEGO Botanical Collection sets have featured iconic flowers from around the world, and the vases included have also reflected some of their real-world counterparts’ popular styles using various unique building techniques. Paired with 10368 Chrysanthemum, the second set in the summer 2024 wave is the iconic plum blossom, which has a very similar Chinese-inspired vase and wooden base. These two flowers are part of four Asian flowers known in Chinese culture as the four gentlemen, one representing each season. The plum blossom represents winter. LEGO Botanical Collection 10369 Plum Blossom contains 327 pieces and will be available on August 1st for US $29.99 | CAN $39.99 | UK £24.99

LEGO Icons Botanical Collection 10368 Chrysanthemum – more than another pretty potted plant? [Review]

Since first launching in 2021 as part of the LEGO Icons theme, the LEGO Botanical Collection has consistently produced high-quality, realistic models of popular plants like 10311 Orchid and 10289 Bird of Paradise. While the plants themselves are the stars, the vases and pots have been pretty great too. This summer’s wave of sets is no exception, with the first two sets being the chrysanthemum and the plum blossom. These two flowers are part of four iconic Chinese flowers known as the four gentlemen, one representing each season. We’ll be taking a look at the spring flower first, represented by the chrysanthemum. LEGO Botanical Collection 10368 Chrysanthemum comprises 278 pieces and will be available on August 1st for US $29.99 | CAN $39.99 | UK £24.99

Thriving LEGO plants and no water needed

LEGO builder Loïc Gilbert has created “Solarium,” where the plants take center stage in this creation. Hues of pink, purple, yellow, and bright green tell of a healthy greenhouse. Adding to the unique features of all this foliage, we see swords, hats, and even a hairpiece put to good use. Another highlight is the floor, which features a patterned carpet crafted from LEGO “cheese slopes”, adding further intricacy to the overall design. These plants would fit perfectly alongside LEGO Icons Botanical Collection 10329 Tiny Plants for sure!

LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole debuts on the LEGO website [News]

There are few sports cars as iconic as the Lamborghini Countach. And after getting a taste of this design in LEGO form with Speed Champions 76908 Lamborghini Countach back in 2022, we now have a proper ode to the vehicle with LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole. With the line first debuting in 1974, this specific version of the Countach from 1985, the 5000 QV, features a redesign of the engine with 4 valves per cylinder (where “quattrovalvole” comes from). And while the LEGO model may not have that much detail, it does feature those iconic scissor doors, and access to the engine in the rear and the “frunk.” Clocking in at 1,506 pieces, LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole will be available from the LEGO website on July 1st for Insiders and July 4th for everyone else. The set will retail for US $179.99 | CAN $239.99 | UK £159.99.

LEGO Icons 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna: Grand Prix race-winner, or backmarker? [Review]

If you want an easy way of being remembered as a sporting entity, a good way of doing that is by becoming unbeatable. Think Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’, or the Miami Dolphins circa 1972. In Formula One, no team has won every race in a season, but two have come close. So it’s fitting that, a few months after Red Bull became the second F1 team to win every race bar one in a season, the first car to achieve this feat hits the shelves in the form of LEGO Icons 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna. Retailing for US $79.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £69.99, this set will be available from March 1st. The MP4/4 was a mighty racecar, but does this set live up to its legendary status?
