Beauty and the bricks

Perhaps one of the most iconic scenes in Disney animated film history is depicted here in bricks, superbly constructed by LEGO builder Konoyaro.

Beauty and the Beast

In this model we have the ending scene from Beauty and The Beast all built up and spectacularly accurate to the film, from the windows with the dark blue 1×2 trans-clear bricks to the floors utilizing great tiling build techniques. The shapes, sizes, and poses of the brick-built characters are completely on point. Belle’s signature dress utilizes slope pieces in various forms and even bright light yellow claw elements with 1×1 cone pieces to accurately render the ruffles of the dress. The beast is also largely composed of slopes as well as bricks and both characters are constructed in a way in which a minimal amount of studs are exposed. With this build, Konoyaro truly translates the magic of Disney fairy tale films into a LEGO masterpiece.

It’s spring, springtime again

This past spring was pretty memorable, to say the least, but here’s to a more hopeful beginning. So what better way to celebrate the incoming season than a floral LEGO build that won’t cause a fit of pollen allergies? There’s much to love about the House of Flowers Konoyaro, from its striking dark red brickwork to its smaller details, like the Unikitty lupines. And aside from the Tudor-esque jettied and structural walls, the house is virtually void of 1x bricks. Instead, Konoyaro has opted for a variety of plate techniques, most notably stacked at the corners for a meticulous brick texture effect. You can also find more plates staggered at the base of the small bay window and surprisingly, in the loosely sculpted trees upfront. But my favorite detail by far is the brick-built front door. It’s a classy alternative to prefabricated doors that I’ll be taking note of for future inspiration.

We’re no stranger to Konoyaro’s vibrant and textural brick building style. Dive into our archives to find their Little Mermaid build we’ve featured this past September!

Look at this stuff. Isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?

If you don’t recognise it, the title is a small excerpt of Part of Your World from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. (It’s also something I’ve never heard an adult fan of LEGO say when describing their collection.) Builder Konoyaro used the Disney movie as an inspiration for this creation and it looks stunning! The best part about this has to absolutely be the vibrant colours. Konoyaro used a lot of parts introduced in the Friends and Elves sets for the coral reef. Look how cute Sebastian and Flounder are on this scale. Small but still very recognisable. The award for best part used goes to the knit caps used as a shell bikini top. And I am really curious to how posable this figure is. It looks like it has joints in all the right places.
