LEGO Icons How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless flies in July 1, 2025

This summer, DreamWorks gets into the live-action remake game with a version of How to Train Your Dragon featuring (we assume) actual flesh-and-blood firebreathers. Right on the heels of the new film, LEGO is releasing an adorable brick-built take on Toothless, the Night Fury dragon who stole everyone’s hearts. It’s a bit surprising we haven’t seen How to Train Your Dragon LEGO sets before, as the large cast of characters – Viking and dragon – playset friendly settings, and a steady decade of new movies and TV shows would have made an ideal theme. DreamWorks and LEGO previously partnered on multiple waves of Trolls sets, so the relationship was there. In any case, HTTYD debuts with a single Icons set, marketed for builders 18+. The designers opted for a stylized design for Toothless with puppy-like proportions. LEGO Icons 10375 How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless contains 784 pieces and will be available July 1, 2025. How to build your dragon: the three-part LEGO story

I’m not going to pretend that I’m an expert on the How to Train Your Dragon-verse. Nor am I able to say that I’ve ever seen one of the movies in the series. But I do know LEGO, and I know a great collaboration when I see one. Builders Josh (lego_monkey), Nick (gecko_builds), and Charlie (choopyjups) have come together to tell the tale of Toothless and Hiccup in this delightful three-part team-up.

A LEGO Toothless to rule them all!

With the release of the most recent How to Train Your Dragon movie, we’ve seen several builds of loveable Toothless floating around. But none of the others are quite like this version, designed by one of our favorite artists, Jayfa! Great skill has gone into the shaping of the head. And feet… Actually, there is great shaping happening all over this little dragon!

Toothless’ playful nature is perfectly captured in this model. Perhaps my most favorite part is the eyes because they’re so expressive. A minifigure hand inserted into each of the ball socks was quite clever. And while I’m personally a purist, the little white bit cut from a claw/tooth element is undeniably a brilliant finish. Is it ironic that the actual tooth part was left behind?

How to Build your Dragon: Make your own LEGO Toothless [Instructions]

We’ve come to enjoy the many LEGO creations from Build Better Bricks not just for their quality and variety, but because they often provide inexpensive building instructions. Their latest is the titular dragon Toothless from the How to Train Your Dragon series, which just released its third movie recently. I love the dragon’s eyes, and Toothless’ low profile is captured perfectly, along with key details like his makeshift tail fin.
