From New Year’s Day through Christmas, each year is full of holidays celebrated by the diverse cultures of the world — Setsubun in Japan, Halloween in America, and so many more. LEGO builders love to create seasonal models to celebrate these red-letter days.

LEGO Creator holiday set 10245 Santa’s Workshop unveiled at Bricks by the Bay [News]

While Josh, Caylin, Ian, and I were all off having a little TBB BBQ last night (thus the delay, sorry readers), 10245 Santa’s Workshop was unveiled at Bricks by the Bay in California.

Designed by Marcos Bessa (another pug lover, by the way), Santa’s Workshop includes 883 pieces and 6 minifigs, and will retail for $70 in the US. The set features the workshop itself, Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves, a sleigh with brick-built reindeer, and toy-making machinery. 10245 Santa’s Workshop will be out this October.

Happy Exploding Christmas! (...aka the Fourth of July)

My fellow ‘Murrricans! We at The Brothers Brick hope you have all been enjoying a relaxing and safe Independence Day. As you digest your fine barbequed meats and drink some approximation to beer in preparation for the Final Detonation, let’s take look at some of the better holiday-themed LEGO creations that appeared today. America is known for its rich cultural diversity and freedom of speech, and today’s builds certainly reflect that…

On this day, some like to take a more serious stance, and look back at our nation’s founding:

Tyler Clites (legohaulic)

While some prefer to look a little less far back, and go the more popular route:

Chris McVeigh (powerpig)

While others decide to just be brutally honest:

Brailey (That WWII Guy)

And as an immigrant to this fine nation of ours, let me just close by saying: “God bless America, and oh crap I can’t understand your language and everything here scares me!”

Friday Night Fights (Round 36)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights! I told myself I was’t going to get all sappy and do a Valentines Day Fight round …. but awesome MOCs are awesome MOCs, regardless of the occasion… plus I love bots. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:

In the red corner Nathan Proudlove (Proudlove) gives us free hugs with Lovebot:
Lovebot wants a hug.

In the Pink corner, Chris McVeigh (pwerpig) transformers my heart with his Valentron:
Valentron Tranform!

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this bout by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, the SpaceSHIP spectacular Iomedes blasts off to victory 12 to 5. Tune in next week for another action packed edition of Friday Night Fights!

Merry Christmas to You and Yours

He made his list. He checked it twice. This morning you found out if you were naught or nice. Last night, Santa Claus came to town.

To celebrate, Chris McVeigh (powerpig) gives us more wonderful works in his fabulous line of sketches.

Ho ho ho, getting ready for Christmas with Gary Davis

Santa’s house, built by Gary Davis (Bricksforbrains), shows preparations for Christmas in full swing, with the elves preparing toys to be delivered to delighted children all over the world. Santa may live in a rustic-looking cabin, but in Gary’s world his whole set-up looks like it could teach amazon a few lessons.

Santa's house1

The elves aren’t running around sorting packages by hand. That work is done by a Rube Goldberg-type contraption (or Heath Robinson, if you’re British) that sorts and packages them before delivering them to Santa’s sleigh. This operation is run by computer from ‘Mission control’ and Santa himself sits behind a desk communicating via his smart-phone. Gary is a big fan of Gerry Anderson’s work, including Thunderbirds, and I think it shows. Merry Christmas.

Wearable Santa Head!

I know, I know, Christmas comes earlier and earlier every year and I’m not helping matters by posting Christmas creations in November. I’m sorry, but this Santa was too good to pass up. Jeff Cunningham has build an awesome Santa head. At first I thought it was a really nice display piece until I read the description. Come to find out, he can wear the thing and see out the eyes! I’m impressed, Jeff, very impressed.

Maleficarum

Mihai Marius Mihu has summoned this spooky tree just in time to get you in the mood for Halloween. If the four eyes hovering in the twisted branches wasn’t enough, the pile of blackened skeletons should do the trick.

It’s always Christmas somewhere

Just to get you in the mood for Christmas, uh, four months early, flickr user LoctiteGirl presents this lovely winter wonderland. The bare trees look like something straight off a classic Christmas card, and I love the forced-perspective castle in the background.

The Cheery Easter Rabbit

Happy Easter, folks. Here’s a cheery Easter Bunny for you, courtesy of flickr user Brickbucki. This is a great sculpture, though I can’t help but think the rabbit looks slightly crazed. But I guess that’s what comes from having to paint and hide millions of eggs.

Crown of Thorns

I am in no way a religious person. I do, however, know a beautifully composed LEGO model when I see one and can respect the importance of this image’s symbolism to many of our readers.
