I, for one, wouldn’t want to cross a mage, and certainly wouldn’t want to make fun of his house. Thomas Wunz has posted this lovely little medieval hut for his mage, and while it looks plain for someone of power, it’s a decidedly excellent build.
I’m particularly fond of the non-traditional, odd-shaped base. The building itself is just detailed and fun, with the brick-style tiles on the sides.

Ever since I saw the cover art for Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds I’ve had a great fondness for tripeds with spindly legs. So it’s no surprise my heart fluttered a little when I saw Nick’s (ElNickre) little diorama. Gloriously retro LEGO.
Another BrickFair has passed (Nannan posted a nice wrapup), and that means another joint science fiction display by 3LUG. For those who aren’t aware, 3LUG is made up of myself and Nick Kappatos. This year, we once again made use of an utter abundance of green bricks (one shouldn’t let such resources go to waste). We also tried to move away from our growing trend of crashed space ships.
This display was only complete for a couple of days during BrickFair, and the components have since retired to our separate homes. Hopefully, the diorama is as fun to look at as it was to build. We tried to add enough details and action to keep kids entertained when viewing the display, because their reactions make it worthwhile.
Alex Schranz (“Orion Pax”) follows up his Batcave with a more nostalgic version. But alas, if you remember the 60’s, then you probably didn’t live through them.
Dirt, by Jade Wisniewski (Taz-Maniac), has a perfectly matching name for what it is: a dive bar in the future.
The use of what look like solid looking spaceship hull and portholes simultaneously communicates the future, but also that the occupants don’t really want outsiders to see in. There’s also a nice bit of interior detail.
Another space surface creation, the Pit Stop, is also worth checking out.
Dillon (-Pendragon-) presents a LEGO model with a fresh theme that I can’t put my finger on. The swamp setting and the dark color accents on the building are unusually pleasing, even though the subject portrays decay and a bit of chaos. Despite the absence of action, there seems to be an imminent danger lurking in the water.
In small dioramas it’s the little details that matter. de-marco packs a bunch of cute touches into this idyllic scene. This is not Farmville.
AC Pin has developed quite the reputation over the years. Mostly known for highly detailed Star Wars dioramas, he takes a step on the wild side this time around. This particular scene depicts a gorgeous red Japanese castle and the surrounding grounds. It is built with exceptional attention to detail. But I was very impressed with how the infamous raised baseplates were melded into the landscape in such a way that they almost go unnoticed. That is a hard thing to do.
A collection of Lugpol members (Pit, Mrutek, Rasch, Ciamek, Glaz_Pimpur, Misiek, Zgredek and Kris Kelvin) have combined forces to produce this stunning diorama of the Eastern Front. The diorama is presently on display at Gdansk Town Hall and if I was near the area I’d certainly be checking it out.
The diorama is full of amazing details, wonderful buildings, decay, flora and excellent military vehicles. Kris has a collection of his shots and a lot of links to further shots in this set. This is my favourite diorama ever and sets the bar very high. I’m even more amazed that with so many cooks the broth is so delicious.

The sleeping Totoro in the second scene underneath the main one is well worth a closer look:
I have no idea how I missed this. This sort of build is right up my alley, if you will. According to Michal Herbolt, the keeper of the lost chronicle secret (Archibald) was kidnapped and tortured for information.
The build is just beautiful. The different colored plates really add to the cobbled stone look, and the wood/stone combination on the main house really just works. Underneath, too, there is a rather unpleasant (but well built!) surprise.

Minifigures need a place to get their goods, and Alex‘s Market District is really filling that niche. This creation is just packed with stories and detail!
Check out this overall-shot; the produce, the animals, and the buildings just seem to flow naturally. I particularly like the building in the back corner, and the detail on the door!
