Tower Palace by ztp

With highly detailed landscaping (including some lovely sunflowers), lots of minifig action, and a fairly large scale, there’s lots to love about ztp’s “Tower Palace”:

The Hold of Wyhrt Quoip

Thomas Wunz is rapidly making a name for himself in the Castle community. His newest creation is does nothing to tarnish that reputation. Built on a beautifully-crafted crag, overlooking the sea (access via some nifty stairs) , the Hold of Wyhrt Quoip is a very imposing fortress.

By the way, Thomas tells me that the proper pronounciation is “Wee-ert Qu-oip”. In case you were wondering. I certainly was…

Iconic Star Wars scenes medievalized by Piotr Lewandowski

Castle builder Piotr Lewandowski has recreated several iconic scenes from the Star Wars universe as Castle vignettes.

Here’s “Duel of Mates” (inspired by “Duel of the Fates” between Qui-Gon Gin and Darth Maul in Episode I):

And another duel, on “BestPin,” between Luke Groundwalker and Darth Father (heh heh):

Royal Knight’s Outpost

The latest creation by Tom Snellen is bursting with charm. According to the builder, this is his first foray into serious landscaping, as well as his first attempt at a tower with more than 4 sides. It was obviously a success!

Arghyr Teur prison tower

Brickshelf user wobnam‘s prison tower creation features an interesting architectural design of having a heavier top section of the tower resting on a narrower neck. The whole concept of solitary isolation on a high-rising cell above the water is pretty chilling. I’d hate to be the guy spending the rest of his life in this place.

The desert fortress of the Calrissians

In Rocko‘s desert landscape there stands a fortress defended by a band of people known as … (wait for it) … Calrissians:

Click the pic for Flickr, or check out lots more in Rocko’s Brickshelf gallery, where you’ll find the usual jokes and Easter eggs.

Not content to take a crack at just one world religion, Rocko takes on at least one more with his trademark irreverence, reminding everyone, “When the Rapture comes, don’t forget your monkey.”

No matter your religious affiliation, you gotta admire the sun, the floating figs, and sense of perspective from the microscale buildings below.

Wool and Bug Guts!

SlyOwl has built a really interesting Medieval Woolery. You have to check out the technique on the roof and the floor. I also am liking that skeleton in sheep’s clothing…

I never knew that squished bugs were used in red dye. There’s one to save for Trivial Pursuit.

The Span of Gryhnt Piro by Remyth

I’m more impressed with each new Castle creation Thomas “Remyth” Wunz posts. “Gryhnt Piro” is certainly no exception:

Here’s Thomas in his own words:

During the glory of the rule of Gyrothyr, the fourteenth king of Veryluai (very-lu-a), many fair things were built. Thought it has rarely been heard of, Gryhnt Piro was a major aspect in lives of those who live around it. Its huge bridge spans two rivers (one of which is depicted), and has made travel over ‘through’ the bandit-infested forests that lay between them possible. Now left in the guard of a very few men, is still stands as a memorial of those grand times.

Cozying up to the Gryffindor fire with Garth Danielson

It’s rather rare that we feature a LEGO Harry Potter creation, but Garth Danielson helps us end that drought with his great “Gryffindor Fire”:

Garth uses a cool bent wall technique to evoke the tower, with a detailed fireplace and furniture.

Harfleur under siege

According to Wikipedia, the French town of Harfleur changed hands between the English and the French repeatedly between 1415 and 1562, including being pillaged by the Huguenot.

I’m not sure which particular incident Brickshelfer Reejoc is illustrating with this Castle creation, but things don’t look good for the residents of Harfleur:

Laputa: Castle in the Sky flaptters by Horace Cheng

I didn’t think that Horace Cheng could improve on the wonderful flaptters (from Hayao Miyazaki’s Laputa: Castle in the Sky) we featured here a couple of years ago, but Horace proves me wrong with a “version 2”:

Laputa Flaptter on Flickr

Though I kind of miss the grill, the overall shape is much better, and the chain works rather well for the safety rail. The Photoshop job certainly adds to the charm, with “Laputa: Castle in the Sky” in Japanese (天空の城ラピュタ).
