Elm Castle lurks deep in gearcs’s woods

Elm castle

The Forestmen were always the “good guys” for me back in the 1980’s, allies of the Crusaders against the Black Falcons. I’m not sure how gearcs feels about that alliance, but “Elm Castle” — the seat of a knight named Sir Roland — includes excellent examples of half-timber LEGO construction integrated into the grey stone, along with complete landscaping and a full interior.

Check out more pictures of Elm Castle on Brickshelf, along with many other LEGO Castle creations in gearcs’s Brickshelf gallery.

The future is aqua

Futuristic LEGO city by T brick

Drawing inspiration from the graphic novel Cyann, t-brick has built a beautiful futuristic city diorama. It also reminds me of Silverberg cover art. The use of colour and repeated motifs is spot on and gives the diorama a wonderful consistent overall feel.

It also gets bonus points for letting me use lots of different theme tags.

Sparkly...

The only thing in ixtutetsukun‘s Brickshelf gallery is this LEGO Castle dio crowned with a stunning chandelier:

Don’t miss other great details, from the windows to the arches, in ixtutetsukun’s Chandelier gallery on Brickshelf. Let’s hope ixtutetsukun posts more great creations like this in the future!

Drink up at the Royal Tavern!

LEGO Castle tavern

We know Stephen Chao (obscurance) best for his great mecha, but Stephen is no less talented in other LEGO themes. This LEGO Castle creation is full of interesting angles and cool details. I’m particularly fond of the tavern’s roof.

Blade Runner Pod-Racer

Over on Flickr, Larry Lars has posted an entry in FBTB’s pod racer contest that I love. It’s a mash-up of a pod-racer and a spinner from Blade Runner.

Blade Runner Pod Racer

He’s done a fantastic job with it, capturing all the little details from the original. I think that might even be Edward James Olmos in the driver’s seat. It’s too bad she won’t live!

Daniel Z’s castle evolution (stage 3)

Daniel Z has revealed the third stage of his castle evolution project, now featuring a fully recognizable castle with highly fortified walls. For the previous stages, see 2 and 1. Will the project develop further? I sure hope it does!

Monty Python podracer challenges Mac podracer as best LEGO mashup ever

The iPod Racer by Matt De Lanoy may have seemed the epitome of LEGO geekiness — a good thing! — but this “Swallow podracer” by tbone_tbl is quite possibly its equal:

The podrace engines that represent King Arthur’s 5-ounce swallows tow a two-pound coconut pod, with the king’s trusty servant Patsy clopping along behind.

It remains unclear whether the swallows are African or European…

Treeman, fighter of the nightman

Aaron Dayman (CBLA Member) may not be the champion of the sun, but it looks like his Treeman creation probably is. Just look at how huge it has grown! I know that I blogged about another ent creation a few weeks back, but I just can’t get enough good organic looking creations. Maybe it’s because I find that style difficult to build myself. Anyways, it looks like the posability on this sucker is really good.

Admiral Benbow Inn has a roof made of cheese

The Brick Time recently revised an earlier version of the Admiral Benbow Inn. Most notable among the changes is the new roof, which is built from cheese slopes using a clever but simple technique. There’s about 2500 of these roof tiles in the overall 9000 piece diorama, making it quite an impressive build.

The Northland Grimmhaven

The Northland Grimmhaven display from The Brick Time appeared on Brickshelf recently after being displayed at an exhibition in Berlin. This diorama no doubt has much details packed in, especially the the robust plaza at the back.

You can find the builder’s recently created Flickr gallery here.
