thisisnothingatall brings us this eerie humanoid nomad. The creator doesn’t provide a backstory, but it’s easy to imagine eons of history in this sculpture. It reminds me a bit of Tali, one of the more intriguing characters in Mass Effect.

The Skeleton Stag & the Big Rad Wolf
Halloween may have just passed, but there’s still tons of scary creations trotting around the LEGO community. One such evil thing is this skeleton figure by Patrick Biggs. Utilizing Hero Factory, System, and Technic parts, Patrick has created a stunning form-fitting demonic beast, one you really wouldn’t want to meet in a darkened foggy forest:
But Patrick has built another monster too–one that you might actually want to meet, assuming you’re in desperate need for a surfing buddy. Which of course we all are. Meet Chad, the Big Rad Wolf:

Masking your inner LEGO lover
It’s Halloween tonight, and if you were competing against Sean and Steph Mayo in a costume contest, you’d probably have lost.
Ok, so they didn’t actually build this life-sized mask for a Halloween costume, but it sure could work for one. The exquisitely sculpted horns remind me a bit of the Faun in Pan’s Labyrinth, one of the few scary movies I actually enjoy, though the creators say it’s the guise of a sea queen.
The road to hell is paved with gourd intentions
Our pre-Halloween Week of Wonder continues with a couple of fresh perspectives on the humble Jack-o-lantern. Apparently it’s not all headless horseman chasing a bunch of pesky kids and their stupid dog!
First we have the Groundskeeper, a surprisingly helpful “gourd sprite” devised by Bionicle wizard Micah Berkoff. As yard help goes, these things sound pretty economical so I’m definitely gonna have to charm myself one.
Next up is the Pumpkin Diner, a delightfully seasonal addition to Heartlake City dreamt up by Palixa and the Bricks. It comes complete with a fully detailed interior and even a set of costumed Friends!
The Bearer of Death comes clad in iron, reeking of brimstone
We’ve been highlighting great LEGO models by Moko for nearly a decade, and that’s because he doesn’t just build one type of things (castles, mecha, or whatever). In addition to being a talented mecha and character builder, he’s a fantastic Bionicle builder. His latest Bionicle creation is inspired by the Black Dog of British folklore, with a strong military sensibility and a high degree of poseability.

A Greater Mutation
The vast majority of builds we feature here are created using ‘traditional’ LEGO System pieces. But there is also a vibrant subculture of fan builders who work almost exclusively with Bionicle and other ‘constraction’ pieces. However, we at The Brothers Brick are old farts, and not tuned to their frequency. So it usually takes a builder to cross that divide to get our attention. Such is the case with this shamanic creation, skillfully conbrickstractificated (with an uncharacteristic lack of purple) by teen builder A Plastic Infinity, who cites the influence of Bionicle/System fusion master Nick Vas.
Classic Space Tri-Fighters
I’m a sucker for starfighter spaceships, and this beauty by Mitch (Gamma Raay) is simply amazing:
You might recognize the Mitch’s name, but probably not associated with Space ships. Mitch usually builds bionicle, which we’ve featured multiple times. This time Mitch has integrated Bionicle pieces seamlessly into this wonderful build. I love how everything just comes together at very unusual angles for a LEGO build, and his attention to shaping and using pieces seemingly designed just for the purpose makes this a thoroughly well throughout and executed build.
And like all good starfighters, it looks great an any angle, including the top:
Debumoto is here to eat your babies (and drink some sake)
Huh, here’s another cool Japanese-themed something or other today. This nasty devil-guy is brought to you by Djordje, whose entertaining something-or-others we’ve featured here before.
What makes Djordje’s Bionicle creations so engaging is their personality. In addition to using Bionicle and Hero Factory parts — just look at the Hero Factory logos he’s used as teeth! — to build more than Toas, Moas, and other such characters indistinguishable from official sets (every one with their own unique backstory, I’m sure), each of his characters has, well, character. Check ’em out.
Dume and Nivawk
As a kid I was a big fan of Bionicle, and this creation of Turaga Dume and Nivawk by Mitch (Gamma-Raay) evoked memories of the actual set that was released over 10 years ago. The silver markings in this model are really well integrated and add a lot of character to the beast.
Making Space for Bionicle
I love using Bionicle pieces in non-Bionicle themed models, and it appears that Brother Steven shares that sentiment. This awesome spacesuit looks like a cross between Bioshock and Apollo, and it’s brilliant. Kudos to Steven’s brother Mark, too, for the lovely presentation, which definitely kicks this model up a notch.
Breann Sledge wins 24k gold grand prize in the Bionicle Battle for the Golden Mask Contest
This mask was up for grabs in a multi-site contest, designed to welcome back the Bionicle theme. Each of the sites involved ran a contest and the winners went head-to-head for the grand-prize.
Breann Sledge won the gold mask with this highly detailed bad boy, Akutahn the Makuta of Okoto. I think I detect a bit of Breann’s Alaskan roots in that name. Standing over 20 inches tall and loaded with all the awesome detailing and posability that we expect from Breann, this top-notch villain is totally a winner.
