This is what we’re all about. We scour the web for the best custom LEGO models to share with you. From castles and spaceships to planes, trains, and automobiles, you’ll find the best LEGO creations from builders all over the world right here on The Brothers Brick.

The secret of Turtle Island

Photographing very large LEGO models can be a real challenge. I’d bookmarked this gorgeous diorama by Gabriel Thomson (qi_tah) when he first posted it last week, but wasn’t sure I’d blog it because the lighting was a bit dark, and he’d been forced to use a sheet for the backdrop that didn’t completely cover the room behind the model. But looking over my queue again today, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Kyle Collard had worked some Photoshop GIMP magic on Gabriel’s photo, making it really pop.

The model itself is of course wonderful, and it won “Best in Show” at BrickVention in Melbourne this past weekend, with both a crashed ship and an oared caravel, as well as a lighthouse and large-scale landscaping — as the name implies, the island itself is shaped like a turtle.

Just goes to show what a difference excellent presentation — and a little help from a friend — can make to a LEGO model.

Scaled model of Charlevoix Public Library

Paul Vermeesch created a model of his local Charlevoix Public Library to be permanently displayed at the library. I very much like the combination of colors including the subtle usage of medium blue and dark orange.

This compilation of side views makes the model look like it fits in with the Lego Architecture kits.

A Lego Cuckoo Clock

Nick Tatar (tater-tots) built an ornate cuckoo clock with moving features, which you can see the mechanism in this photo. No doubt this would make a great conversation piece if hung in someone’s home.

A Pram From Hell

Dateline: Wroclaw, Poland. Bartosz Kacprzyk, better known as the oneman asks the eternal question: “Is it possible to imagine a greater loneliness, than the loneliness of a weak old, despot?.

Loneliness of Despot

I think I know the answer, but as always dear reader, you control the action.

Rainbow-Vous

Tough luck to TR that I got in first on this GARC. With his Rendez-Vous, Nathan Proudlove shows he’s clearly a fan of rainbow warriors.

Research Base Kappa

Eurobricks Micro Sci-Fi Contest is barely off the ground and is already yielding some great results. Submitted for your approval is a sprawling mountain science lab (well, as sprawling as a 16×16 base allows) called “Research Base Kappa” by England’s own .Jake.

You’ve got to have the chops to handle this controller.

Flushing New York’s Baron Julius von Brunk has constructed an enormous fully functional NES controller to play his favorite old school cartridge games.

I was on the fence about blogging what amounts to a giant box, but once I saw this photo of the good Baron, I was unable to resist the magnetic power of the mutton chops. The builder also has some interesting LEGO related ink on display for the tattoo afficianados out there. Be sure to check out the other photos in the set to see the internal structure and wiring.

Shrouded in Mystery

Flickr user SHROUD is working on a long term project using LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) to bring his vision of an epic scale Capital Ship to life. The CS Ecliption is being released in modular sections to make it more manageable and to avoid crashing the program. This particular module is one of the Void Pirate Flagship’s gargantuan missle launchers.

Adventure Thru Inner Space

Although the Disneyland attraction Adventure Thru Inner Space was torn down in 1985 I can still hear the narrator like it was yesterday: “For centuries, man had but his own two eyes to explore the wonders of his world, then he invented the microscope, a mighty eye, and discovered the fantastic universe beyond the limits of his own meager sight. Now your adventure thru inner space has begun. Thru Monsanto’s Mighty Microscope, you will travel into the incredible universe found within a tiny fragment of a snowflake. I am the first person to make this fabulous journey, suspended in the timelessness of inner space are the thought waves of my first impressions. They will be our only source of contact once you have passed beyond the limits of normal MAGNIFICATION… MAGNIFICATION.. MAGNIFICATION. MAGNIFICATION!”

This mighty microscope is brought to you by Brasilian Gilcelio Chagas, whose interview you can check out here, if you missed it.

A foolproof master plan

London resident -Derfel Cadarn- has “Big plans for 2013!” and this model is Chapter 1 in his master-plan to steer away from the conventions and boilerplate of the Castle genre. If Cobblecrook Cottage is any indication of things to come, its going to be a great year for a new kind of medieval groove.

LEGO minifig-scale ultra-class Liebherr T 282B haul truck by M_longer

We’ve featured many gloriously oversized LEGO vehicles by Marek Markiewicz (M_longer) over the years, including his L 580 wheel loader, TH550 underground mining truck, and Caterpillar 24M grader. Marek’s latest truck is the massive — and fully motorized — Liebherr T 282B haul truck, used in mining and heavy construction.

Marek’s model is fully functional, with working steering and tipper. You can watch this beast in action in his video on YouTube.
