LEGO comes in a lot of pretty colors, so why not use a bunch of them in one creation? Galaktek literally “seized the day” when just he started doodling with some rarely used colors, and ended up producing this eye-catching little sculpture.

Europe in Pictures
This pictorial map of Europe, by Matt Bace, is a ton of fun! The map itself is very well conceived and colors are really grab the eye, but the crown jewels of this piece are the little ‘icons’ that represent each country. The micro-builds are really fun and totally make this piece. My favorite is the Colosseum in Rome. Which is yours?
A Desert Apprentice
I really like the look and feel of this bit of desert by Jonas Wide. It depicts a merchant’s apprentice as he leads two heavily laden camels across the desert. Jonas really captured the look of wind-swept sand dunes and the subdued color scheme is surprisingly attention-grabbing. I have to admit that the current fad of putting a border around every castle creation is getting old but it really works here. The stark black outline makes the random patterns of the sand dunes pop!
Tomahawk light destroyer
Alexander (Malydilnar) crafted this incredible 140-studs-long ship in just 2 months. I’m very impressed by all the angles, color blocking, and distinct-looking components that all come together in a model that looks no different than a top-notch spaceship concept art. The ship is, in fact, based off a drawing on deviantART.

Thomas Benedikt, who built the massive Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, spent years designing a massive 13-foot Lego Super Star Destroyer. Now he wants to build it in real bricks, but he needs your support to make it happen. Check out the Kickstarter project to see how you can contribute to this epic project and get rewards. The Legend of Zorro
TheBrickAvenger captures the dashing masked-outlaw, Zorro, in this diorama featuring gorgeous Spanish architecture. The angled placement of the house and the subtle use of dark orange on the roof and sand green on the ground really enhances the overall appearance.

Lukasz Wiktorowicz crafted a beautiful oriental diorama featuring three temples nested on a tiered landscape. Check out the innovative and realistic technique used for the roofs and the waterfall.
You killed the car!
Swedish LUG Swebrick recently held its annual “AFOL vs AFOL” building contest. The theme this year was to build any scene from an 80’s movie or TV show featuring a vehicle. First place went to Etzel87 for this perfect choice of moment from the cult movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – a movie where the vehicle is actually the co-star! Some of the other entries were quite fun too.
In the company of dwarves
The first installment of Peter Jackson’s sprawling Hobbit adaptation hit theaters almost two years ago now. Shortly after the premiere, Finnish builder and TBB regular Pate-keetongu decided to build two of the dwarves from the movie. And he just kept going! Now, his grand opus is finally complete. So we present to you, the company of Thorin Oakenshield in LEGO (or as the builder describes it on his blog, the “Hobbitsplosion“).
As breathtaking as the above spread is, it cannot do the individual builds justice. So we encourage you to check out the full album on Flickr, or visit the builder’s blog for lots of close-ups. Each character’s hair, costume and equipment has been accurately captured, making each one instantly recognizable.

Vengeful Gods
The Philippine LUG challenge is rapidly yielding some stellar results, as Nannan’s post below reminded me to blog this awesome build. Lu Sim offers this fantastically different take on the same Aztec Mech theme, with a more intimidatingly mechanoid and regal design. If this guy showed up and told me to offer up some blood sacrifices, I would totally go along with it.

Journey to Northland
This microscale map by THE BRICK TIME Team shows a fictitious continent called Northland. Despite being microscale, the creation is actually quite large, measuring the footprint of four 48×48 stud baseplates. Check out the detail photos on Flickr.
