Pugs. You may love them or not, but you can’t deny they’re adorable in their own unique way. Marcos Bessa captures their quizzical look with shocking perfection.
Personally, I like the bow-tie version:

Ever wondered what it would be like to go inside some of those classic video games? Could be fun, right? With my luck I’d get caught in Frogger. I’ve gotten worse at that one as I’ve gotten older–true story.
Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin)has created the Bob-omb Battlefield, from N64’s Super Mario 64, so his adorable little Bob-ombs have an environment just for them.
And because things like this are always better in person, if you’re in the greater Chicago area and want to check out some fantastic LEGO creations, you can check out the 12th Annual Christmas LEGO Train show this weekend. That sounds like a great way to beat some of the chill!
Typically for castle builds we see…castles. Medieval villages and the like. Wandering bands of thieves and vagabonds, fearless knights, and the occasional dragon. There’s a handful of awe-inspiring cathedrals for diversity.
What we don’t often get are places of learning. Brian Corredor presents his Great Library at Saltoro, for your viewing and learning pleasure.
This fabulous library is an entry into Classic-Castle’s Colossal Castle Contest. You can head over there and check out the prizes and enter yourself!
Thanksgiving’s around the corner, and around these parts, that means Classic-Castle‘s annual Colossal Castle Contest is well underway. There are plenty of fantastic entries, and I want to highlight a few that caught my eye!
Justin M‘s Order of the Bull
Lego_Fan‘s Coast of Northern Lake
Gary^The^Procrastinator‘s Go Where No One Else Will Go
David Hensel‘s Crow’s Nest
The contest runs through December 31, 2013, so get building!
Images for the upcoming 2014 Disney Princess line have been revealed, giving more detail into the new line of sets. As you can see, the figures are closer to the Friend’s line. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking, because my inner-child has nothing more to say than high-pitched squeals of delight.
41050 Ariel’s Amazing Treasures
41053 Cinderella’s Dream Carriage
41054 Rapunzel’s Creativity Tower
41055 Cinderella’s Romantic Castle
While I certainly gravitate toward castle myself, I can’t help but admire some of the gorgeous Vic Vipers popping up lately. A couple really caught my eye. Clearly I have a thing for blue.
Solar Striker by Nick Trotta (tardisblue)
Mamushi by Jimmy (6kyubi6)
A rather unique approach to the tudor building, I couldn’t resist the lines and shapes David Hensel (Legonardo Davidy) created with this brilliant little cottage. The colors and angles work beautifully together.
He says it’s a warm-up for the annual contest over at Classic-Castle. If this is the warm-up I can’t wait to see the competition!
February 29, 2020. Anchorage. Knifehead. Category III.
This is the beast that took down the Gipsy Danger. This is the Kaiju that demonstrated that they were learning our defenses. This was the battle of the beginning of the end for the Jaeger program. And it is magnificent.
OliveSeon brings us this brilliant brick-built beast from Pacific Rim, in all its glory. I can’t wait to see what else she has planned!
Today’s clearly a video-heavy day. Great way to break up the day. Who can say no to Iain‘s bricks of character coming to life? When it comes to characters, though, Tommy Williamson (GeekyTom) is certainly holding his own. He keeps making BrickNerd better and better every time.
This time, though, is very special.
On this episode, we take a look into the the Lifestyles of the Brick and Famous.
While you’re at it, check out Tommy’s contest (now through 9/30!) to Pimp your Nerdly. Instructions are available on his site!
Time is a funny thing: it both heals and utterly destroys. It can take away the crushing despair of a broken heart, a distant family, and right wrongs. It can carve landscapes, and level mountains. That’s pretty powerful stuff.
Built for the Castle display at Brickcon, this statue’s original purpose is lost–along with a limb, a hand, and the head has fallen to the dust. Further damage has resulted from the ongoing hostilities between the Boars and Bulls.
In all seriousness, I’ve been wanting to build a large minifigure for a while, and of course when I build it’s apparently ruined and weather-worn. And a bonus: this should survive the journey from Orlando to Seattle relatively intact!
You can see more photos in my gallery!
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter that shark week is over. Or that millions of cats everywhere do housework atop a Roomba. What does matter is that the internet loved it and therefore Iain Heath (Ochre Jelly) MUST build it. It’s not like he’s done that before or anything.
And, because no cat video meme build is complete without the video, you can see Roomba-Shark-Cat in action:
While Roomba-Shark-Cat is pretty spot on with the attitude and pose of a cat in a costume, I adore the duck.
Gather round, everyone, for I have a story to tell you. Let me share with you this book by 74louloute; it tells the tale of Castle of Luneville in Lorraine, France, and how a fire tried to take the life of an old man.
Be sure to check out this brilliant build in action!
