About Nannan

Nannan became involved with the online LEGO community in late 2004. He has been a builder for as long as he can remember. Nannan builds in a variety of themes that often overlap with the science fiction universe; other times they are purely made up ones. You can see his creations on Flickr, MOCpages and Brickshelf. In real life, Nannan is a physician living in Dallas.

Life-sized Lego forest in Australia

In April, a life-sized Lego forest featuring giant sculptures of Lego plants showed up in Sydney as part of Australia’s “Festival of Play.” Since then the sculptures have migrated to a desert landscape in New South Wales. Check out the article on BuzzFeed for a video of the scene.

Pictures of Collectable Minifigures Series 8

Brickipedia has posted the first images of Collectable Minifigures Series 8 that will be released in September. This one’s not the best in my opinion but still a fair lineup.

Nature and modernity

Dave Kaleta‘s 1007 Mountain Drive drew a lot of attention at Brickworld 2012. This creation has both an intriguing overall design as well as individual fascinating details such as the swimming pool, porsche and more that you can see on Flickr.

Cheese slope mosaics tutorial

With the mentioning of cheese slope mosaics, one name stands out, which is none other than Katie Walker (eilonwy77). She has just wrote a detailed and illustrated article showing techniques and ample examples of what can be accomplished in the field of mosaics with these tiny angled parts. Check it out on MosaicBricks.

Sci-fi made to look real

Justin Vaughn (-Mainman-) came up with one of the most original starfighter designs I’ve seen in a long time. What also sets it apart is the docking box made out of many bars and connectors. The subtle colored elements as well are used effectively for realism and bring out points of interest.

Support eclipseGrafx on Mission Small Business

Victor of eclipseGrafx, a fast-rising custom minifigs store, is applying for a quarter million dollar grant from Mission Small Business and he needs your support in votes. Click on the graphic below for details and it only takes a minute (plus you need a Facebook account). If you need a reason to vote (or wonder why I posted this), just know that Victor has been very generous in donating custom minifigs to the annual Creations for Charity fundraiser, so helping him spread the word is the least I can do.
