A. Yates (A YATES INDUSTRIALS.) has been on a roll lately with a series of small mecha he calls Labor Force Mechanicals. This particular version is the block-headed LFM-3 “Plunk“, and although it may lack the character of the LFM-2, I think the splash of color makes up for it. And yes, Virginia, it fits a fig. It is also nice to see a mecha once in a while that doesn’t have a gun or a giant flaming sword. I love violent robots as much as the next guy; I just like a little variety.

“I’m gonna pick up the pieces, and build a LEGO house”
Gryffindor’s Ron Weasley…er…Ed Sheeran is a UK pop singer who wrote and perfomed a song called LEGO House in 2011 that also, as you might imagine, had an accompanying music video. This month a new version of the video was released featuring a split-screen recreation in LEGO by Dylan Woodley of Insomniac Animations. The song is a little maudlin for my taste, but the side-by-side presentation is very effective and a little hypnotic. I just can’t get enough of that dreamy Ron Weasley.
Thanks to Jacob Carroll for the tip on TBB’s facebook page….I think. Now I can’t get that song out of my head.
Making Up For Lost Time
With a catalog of outstanding aircraft and sci-fi models dating back to 2008 on Flickr, I was surprised to find that TBB has never featured Italian builder Simone (Wiseman_Lego). In an effort to make up for lost time, enjoy this double shot of excellence. First up is a Simone’s recent build the “Fighter prototype“.
I reached back to the summer of 2012 for the second selection, titled “Project Have Void“.
Mama’s Little Hellraiser
Ekoww would like to introduce you to “Junior“, the latest additon to his Folklore, Myth and Superstition series. Although the face may be something that only a mother can love, the sculptural talent of the builder is undeniable.
A Mecha With Knee High Socks
Jas Nagra (J5N) returns to TBB after nearly three years with his latest model, the GFK “RODAN” Warsuit mkII. Small feet seem to be all the rage with mecha builders these days, and Jas kicks it up a notch by adding what appear to be minifig capes to the lower legs. The unique result is somewhere between WWI puttees and 1980’s leg warmers.
“Jazz isn’t dead. It just smells funny.”
Pedro Vezini pays homage to the late great Frank Vincent Zappa with his latest model simply titled “Zappa“. The builder credits Iain Heath’s Building Bilbo Baggins video for inspiring him to experiment with a different style. Mission accomplished Pedro; Frank’s mustache alone is worth the price of admission. I think I’ll go dust off my copy of “Uncle Meat” and give it a spin.
“I just adore a penthouse view.”
Friday Night Fights
The Brothers Brick is proud to be broadcasting live tonight from Caesar’s Palace in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. In tonight’s edition of Friday Night Fights we bring you a heavyweight bout between two veteran builders in the prime of their careers.
Fighting out of the red corner…from parts unknown or perhaps even from beyond the grave…rongYiren’s “They’ve Sprouted Wings“.
And fighting out of the blue corner…from the school of hard knocks John Stephens (-=Steebles=-) and his “Skulls Gang Member & Swoop Bike”
I cast you, constant reader, in the role of judge. Render your decision, whether it is TKO, a narrow victory or even in a worst case scenario a spit decision. Don’t be concerned fellow LEGO-nerds, it’s just for laughs.
Inphobot
Cole Blaq makes what seems like his weekly appearance on the blog with a trans-neon green bug he calls “Inphobot”. Built with just 16 parts, Aran proves you don’t need a bloated collection to build something eye-catching. The model reminds me of the battery-eating HEXBUG toys, your results may vary.
Take two, they’re small.
$165 Million Plus Interest
It’s been about a year since we last heard from David Collins (intrond) who returns to TBB with a sci-fi model simply titled “485”. This quasi-Tachikoma strikes a nice balance between smooth armored sections on top and the mechanical details beneath.
As for the title, I thought “485” seemed too stiff and the soundtrack for Ocean’s 12 was playing in the background.
Spine Lizard
I think most of us enjoy a good dinosaur model, and ∆TMM∆ provides tonight’s Cretaceous offering. If you’re a fan of Spinosaurus, check out Mike Psiaki’s version from June of 2009.
