About Josh

Josh is 30+ years old and has more Lego than he has hair. Which really isn't saying much. He builds mostly medieval creations, but dabbles in other genres. He is also a father and uses his kids as an excuse to buy Lego. That justification isn't working as well as it used to, so if you can think of a better justification, feel free to contact him. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Josh's Brickshelf gallery gets messier and messier. Josh also has a Flickr gallery, if you care about such things. He goes by the name "floodllama" there. If you wonder why he goes by "floodllama", you've obviously never owned a llama in flood. Josh feels sorry for you.

The Bone Rattler

Steven Walker figured out what to do with all those extra battle droid arms that were laying around. Build a bike! I’ve never seen anything quite like this…definitely an eye-catcher!

Willys MB Jeep Ambulance

David Luna has outfitted his medics with a jeep modified to carry stretchers. I hadn’t ever seen one of these before, they really did exist!

He’s done an excellent job on this recreation. I’m really liking how he used the all-purpose BrickArms monopods on the stretcher racks.

Here is another picture, with stretchers in place:

Maserati of the Air

Fedde has gone airborne with this magnetically-powered Maserati Airturismo. Smooth lines, open cockpit, and my son’s favorite color…what more could you want?

Steampunk Roundup

There’s been a barrel-full of quality Steampunk creations lately. Many are entries in the Agents of the Imperial Crown contest, but some aren’t. It doesn’t matter, they are all awesome!

Overland Wayside Landing

Foamrider recently posted a cute little flying rock. This one supplies a long-overlooked need. Namely a rest stop for those overworked denizens of the sky, the messenger owls!

I wish I had a messenger owl that I could overwork….

Takeshi Itou bridges the gap

Takeshi Itou is one of the most incredible Castle builders out there. Every one of his creations is incredible. Its been quite awhile since his last one, but it has definitely been worth the wait.

This City Hall with linking bridges is very striking and I love all of the various Tudor houses.

ChiefLUG Battlestar Galactica Viper Fly-In at BrickCon 2008

It was recently brought to my attention that we missed covering a major collaborative display at BrickCon last October. This was a major oversight on our part as this display was incredible. In fact, I think it was one of the best collaborative displays I’ve seen.

Ryan Wood, founder and namesake of ChiefLUG, organized the first ever BSG Viper fly-in. Ryan, Mark Sandlin, and Andrew Lee built 13 foot of hanger bay, which was filled to overflowing. So much so that there were Vipers covering all the tables around. The final count was 35 Vipers and other Battlestar Galactica-inspired craft. It was most impressive! I saw every imaginable Viper on display, from pink Pardisa-inspired to Black Fantasy-infected. I was amazed at the amount of time and effort Ryan and the ChiefLUGers put in to this. Needless to say, it spawned a huge bandwagon of Vipers online! You can check some of them in this post, by clicking on the pictures, or you can see the whole fleet in the ChiefLUG Flickr Group.

Way to go, ChiefLUG!

Now that’s disturbing...

I have no idea what this is all about, but it freaked me out. Especially since it was at 3am when I found it. Its called the Frog Rider and OrionPax is to blame…

What would Jerry think?

Andrew Colunga gets in touch with his inner Deadhead with his latest build. The technique for the chain of roses is pretty unique. I don’t think I’ve seen that before.
