Dan Rubin has been an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) since he became an adult. He joined the larger AFOL community on LUGNET in 2003, and that was also the year in which he attended his first BrickFest. Dan largely builds space MOCs, so it should come as no surprise that he is also the Main Admin of the forums at Classic-Space.com. He is also the creator of the Galactic Inquisition space theme. New Soviet Republic – блоха

A new creation from me, though it’s actually a year old. For some time, I’ve imagined that my Iron Mountain Legion creations needed an enemy. Not just an enemy, but a worth match, beyond the stereotypical post apocalyptic marauders and mutants. My intention was to build something that looked like it belonged in the same world, but with a clearly different design aesthetic. I hope I’ve succeeded, but will let our readers be the judge.

The name means “Flea,” at least if Google translate has steered me right. The shape certainly reminds me of the tiny biting insect, anyway

V is for V-Wing, Among Other Things

Since 1977, there has been no shortage of Star Fighters being built inspired by various letters of the alphabet. While I don’t find the resemblance to the letter V particularly striking in this ship, I think that may be a good thing. A little subtlety in approaching the lettering system is part of what makes this ship by halfbeak () good. The use of a Christmas tree ornament for a cockpit is very well executed, and blends well with the other organic elements of the build.

“Juggernaut” Anti-Tesla Heavy Hardsuit

I’d like to imagine that Gary (Garry) was repeatedly saying “I’m the Juggernaut” in his best Vinnie Jones voice as he assembled this. I love the use of a bionicle mask for armor on a minifig hardsuit. It looks great, and although this is a virtual MOC, the connection looks legit. If I had any of these masks, I’d be tempted to try it out! The choice of head for the pilot is also a very clever addition, really making use of the eye-slots.

The Geher 9 Mecha Stops for Maintenance

I missed this MaK creation, when Kosmas Santosa ( first posted it. Fortunately, he’s followed up with a nice little scene, giving me a chance to blog this cool mecha. The tool cart and gas can are both nice details that help make the scene. The builder also found a nice chunk of broken down wall for background, it looks great.

Micro Holiday Train to Liven any Mantel

This little train built by Galaktek (Galaktek) is sure to bring cheer to any train fan. The builder has been kind enough to provide some breakdown photos, so I may just be building one of these for my son.

Hungry like the Wolff

It’s not the first time I’ve blogged something by Pēteris Sprogis (Pēteris Sprogis) as much for the background as for the vehicle he’s showing off. His presentation really makes it feel like this off-road is being unveiled at an auto show. The vehicle itself? Good stuff! It looks functional and fast.

BURN – E Comes to the Brick

Builder Nick V (Brickthing) is heating up his Iron Builder competition with Andrew Lee with this fantastic creation. The Pixar short that originated this little guy was hilarious (and directed by LEGO fan Angus MacLane). This LEGO rendition looks quite worthy of source material. Build on guys!

Vic Viper is More than Meets the Eye!

My fellow lug member Dene Quest (DJ Quest) has brought a fun twist to the current spate of Vic Vipers gracing our screens. He’s given it the ability to transform. Not content to merely build a Vic Viper version of a Macross Valkyrie, his transforms into a dinobot. The use of an oversized starfighter tail as a dinosaur tail has me tickled.

LEGO Minifigs – Now in Wooden Form

Fellow Brother-Brick Tim[1] spotted these, and I couldn’t pass them up. They’re made by a cat who goes by the name Ragskin, and posted on DeviantArt. I know some folks are not fans of Lego themed (but non-Lego made/licensed) art pieces, but I am. In fact, years ago, I welded together some LEGO bricks from steel. They jury of that art show quite liked them, actually. Regardless, I think these wooden minifigs would be a great office decoration, and a little classier than a standard creation. I’d like to think one of these could sit in Jorgen Vig’s office. I especially dig the attention to detail taken on the space man.

Lovely Builds, at a Small Scale

Today, I came across two great micro scale creations. The first was this stealth missile boat built (virtually) by Evan Melick (Legoism). It really captures the look and feel of this type of sea-craft. In fact, it’s a style of ship that I’ve long wanted to build at minifig scale. It’s great to see that the shapes can be achieved in a manner pleasing to the eye.

Next up, is a lovely little space ship by Vaughan James (legovaughan). Just look at the angles! I love all the various small and compound angles come together to give a cohesive form, while lending the appearance of extra detail. It’s as if the power loader from Alien and a drop ship mated.

Some Quality Space

Some really fantastic stuff was built for SHIPtember. I keep coming across more and more! I know we’ve posted about some of these, and about the month as a whole, but I just can’t resist the coolness. The latest is this beauty by Damien Labrouse (legodrome).

At first glance, I thought this was a great bit of micro building, then I spotted the minifigs on an EVA. It’s bigger and more detailed than I thought. I think my favorite detail is the stacks of technic bricks at the front. The repetition of form from the holes looks awesome.

Borris the Pirate Jigbot

I’m ordinarily fond of making up fun titles for my posts here, but with this new creation by Nick V (Brickthing), the title of the photo beats anything I could add. Moreover, this little not is hilarious, adorable, and well built. The use of a Death Star sphere for a head is inspired, as several of the other details.
