The Latest from Cerebruminc

Snoikle has a great interview with Philip Painter (Brickshelf), discussing the design inspiration and building process behind his latest spacecraft, LL928. Here’s the freighter in question:

While we’re at it, here’s a great “multi-role vehicle,” or MRV:

Who you gonna call?

Okay, so it’s gotta couple of non-official stickers on it. Sue me. But c’mon, it’s the Ecto 1, everybody!

Take this, Cute Overload!

Fine. Be that way. If Cute Overload won’t blog my LEGO+animals submissions, I’ll post them myself. Next time I’m totally submitting to Adorablog instead. Hmph.

From Japanese blogger Bon, we have a post titled “Summer Vacation,” featuring an adorably tiny frog demonstrating Rule of Cuteness #14 next to a bald minifig:

Flickr user joocyfrewt presents Pancho the teddybear hamster, whose high BEF is compensated for by looking sleepy, sitting in a house made of LEGO:

So there, CO.

Life down there is just a strange illusion...

Izzo populates his “Heavy Metal Archive” with the mascot from Iron Maiden, “Eddie”:

Samara the Witch

Eurobricks member and Brickshelfer “Apophis Voo” presents Samara the Witch. Given that she’s a minifig, I suspect she weighs less than a duck:

What I like about Samara is that Apophis has combined bits and pieces from lots of different themes to create an awesome fantasy minifig. I also think this is the first time I’ve seen Draco Malfoy’s head used on a female fig.

Arvo’s LEGO Nintendo Game Boy

Brickshelfer arvo’s latest real-world object built from LEGO is a Nintendo Game Boy:

Dimunative, Miniscule, Small, Very Tiny Robots!

Mecha can be pretty big, but Brickshelfer MACHA goes the other direction with a series of tiny creations inspired by Gundam. Click the image to see multiple galleries of pint-size creations:

(Check out the itty-bitty Guncannon in the middle of the picture!)

My only disappointment is that MACHA hasn’t created Gundam itself. Oh well, we can hope for an update.

Go Q*Bert Go!

Nelson Yrizarry gets all nostalgic for old-school arcade games with his latest vignette, a recreation of the classic Q*Bert (via Unique Brique Techniques):

Lunatic on a Pogo Stick

Well, he might not actually be crazy, but he sure does bounce around a lot. It’s Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers (by Izzo)!

Chad Ivany’s Gate House

The castles I built twenty years ago were merely extensions to official LEGO sets, in the same, predictable style. These days, builders like Chad Ivany don’t limit themselves to rows of those wall pieces with little windows in them. Chad’s latest creation is a gate house fit for the greatest of medieval kings (click for full gallery):

In addition to lots of great detail on the outer wall, Chad has included wooden structures and a scene full of minifigs on the inside:

Poetry Vignettes by Bill Ward

I love poetry more than I love LEGO (shock!), so it’s nice when I can blog a little poetry here on The Brothers Brick. Posting in the middle of the night while at BrickFest, Bill Ward gives me just such an opportunity with his set of six beautiful poetry vignettes. Here are my three favorites.

“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost:

“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Frost:

“Yonder See the Morning Blink” by A.E. Housman:

Be sure to check out his other great vignettes as well:

X-Rayed LEGO

Have you ever wondered what an X-ray of LEGO would look like? Neither have I, which is why Brickshelfer Menoriel’s new gallery of ghostly images is so fascinating. Here’s what Obi-Wan and Darth look like under those crazy invisible rays (click for more):
