Castle Hadrian by busboy489

Another entry to Classic-Castle‘s Colossal Contest, busboy489’s Castle Hadrian is so full of rich detail that it’s difficult to begin to point them out. There’s the drawbridge, the lovely tree in the lower corner, the wall detailing, the interesting architecture and angles…I’d say just go ahead and stare at it for a while. You’ll be glad you did.

Sir Nadroj captures a Wyvern

Jordan Schwartz (Sir Nadroj) has become quite adept at building organic creatures lately — a particular challenge in our angular medium. His latest creature is the mythical medieval wyvern.

Wyvern

Jordan’s wyvern is articulated from neck through tail, and while it looks like a rather odd dragon, his rendition is quite accurate (as portrayals of non-existent creatures go).

A green speck on our pale blue dot

LEGO newcomer Rakanishu1024 recently posted a really cool “green building” on a Micropolis module.

Max Reebo and Harry Potter CubeDudes entertain the masses

Speaking of FBTB, their CubeDude Vignettes Contest is now complete, and has yielded some nice results.

Larry Lars captures Jabba the Hutt’s musical entertainers in his vignette:

Andy Grubb deservedly takes home the first place prize, though, with this awesome forced-perspective view of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy pursuing the golden snitch in a game of Quidditch.

These guys don’t monkey around...

An entry for Classic-Castle’s Colossal Contest VIII, Mr. Johnathon Gilbert‘s creation showcases the hard work and diligence of the Castle Health, Improvement, & Maintenance People (C.H.I.M.P.).

That’s a lot of destruction and havoc to fix up, but I’m quite sure the CHIMPs are up to it.

Map of Europe with landmarks

A team of German builders (Bruno Kurth, Tobias Reichling, Vanessa Graf, Tanja Kusserow-Kurth, and Torsten Scheer) created this gigantic 480X480 stud layout of a physical map of Europe. On top of that, they have added 44 microscale landmarks, two of which are for sale on Creations for Charity. This feat is accomplished with more than 53,500 bricks over half a year.

Holy Bricks, Batman!

Fredoichi recently unveiled this sleek bust of the Caped Crusader. I really like the smooth, finished look of this build. Now it just needs a voice chip saying, “I’m Batman”.

“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.”

Well, I’m way late on this one. I meant to post it here right away, but forgot. Absolutely no excuse for that. But better late than never.

Stitch is one of my all-time favorite Disney characters and Jordan’s sculpture is most excellent. From the stance of the character to the look on his face, from the use of the stickers on the ears (yes, they are official LEGO) to the use of black teeth for fingers, everything about this build meshes very well.
