The Night Watch by Jonathan Watts
Jonathan Watts (Flickr) presents a scene inspired by the cover art for Terry Pratchett’s The Night Watch, which was naturally inspired by the book itself, as well as by Rembrandt’s painting of the same name. Take that, Plato!
Giger’s Alien brought to life by Arvo
If you thought Arvo’s Chestburster sculpture was awesome, their newest work is just stunningly amazing. The Arvo brothers have created HR Giger’s Alien in its frightening entirety. This magnificent horror sends shivers even down my spine.
We hope Arvo will have more pictures uploaded soon.
EDIT (AB): And thanks to reader Carlos for sending us a link to the Hispalug thread announcing this fantastic new creation! Nannan just got to it before I did. ;-)
Flying across the galaxy
Mike van Leeuwen (aka skywalker01 on Brickshelf) completed a 104 stud long SHIP called the ITS (Interstellar Transport SHIP). Mike described that the ship “transports people and cargo from the Lunar Space Station to Alpha Centauri Space Station. The people will be in a state of hybernation when they make the journey. The SHIP will fly for several months to reach Alpha Centauri.”
Check out the intricate and detailed engine. The yellow curved slopes and the gray shovels form such perfect circular shapes and complement each other well.
Cruising down Route 66
Known as Noddy on Brickshelf, Karwik is synonymizing his name with realistic and stylish minifig bikes. His recent designs only reinforce his mastery of the subject. Check out Noddy’s Silver Shark and M72 Bobber backdropped by a well built gas station.
Izzo puts on armor
Izzo‘s mechas are wonders to behold. His most recent study experiments the exchange of armor on a basic frame, and the final products are nothing short of dazzling, expecially when the colored armors are contrasted against a white background.
Hexagonal symmetry and a shiny orb
Jarek (aka Jerac) experiments with hexagonal construction and comes up with an unique design for an alien ship called the Hax.
Check out that beautiful symmetry and the well-placed golden half sphere in this photo! The technique that produces the hex design is quite fascinating as well. Well done Jerac
Behold the SteamWalker!
On Brickshelf, he goes by Wintermute, on Flickr he is Onosendai2600. Whichever you prefer, Andrew Lee builds cool things. Take a gander at his latest.
Shattering the vistas of reality
My most recent work is another surrealist scene, depicting a very personal experience. The imagery was fully conceived in June of this year as I lay in bed thinkingĀ on a peaceful mid-afternoon. The work is titled A Death to Disorder.
You can visit Flickr for marked notes on symbolism and an accompanying poem.
Two weeks of Nnenn in a nutshell
Nnenn is always busy expanding his evergrowing collection of uniquely built space creations. The past fortnight has seen creations from minis to mechas and to minifig-scale fighters. Check out his most recent, the LV-15 superiority fighter:
Next are some minis built in the classic space themes:
More pictures on Brickshelf
Following up is a classic Nnenn-styled micro star-fighter, the UMV-22b “Enmity,” swooshing in with blazing colors:
Finishing up the two-week roundup is Nnenn’s latest mecha, the Veechak M55 close combat unit. How do you formulate all those names Nnenn?
A look at the urban industrial core
Vitus Barth has created an amazingly detailed and realistic urban industrial diorama a month ago. It’s better that this masterpiece gets blogged late than never, and who would’ve thought that this is only his first large LEGO diorama!
