The galaxy’s favorite space-slug gangster, Jabba the Hutt, is one of Star Wars’ more recognizable aliens. Jabba is cold and cruel, but still enjoys the finer points of life on the harsh world of Tatooine.
Robert Lundmark has captured the slimy villain with great attention to detail. The contouring and coloring of Jabba’s massive form is impressive, the base is clean and sharp, the subtly angled face is ingenious, but it’s the eyes that catch my attention most of all. It’s a small detail like that that can really turn a build from a pile of bricks into a living character.

The dark side of exercise [Video]
Have you ever wondered how Sith Lords stay fit? No? Me neither. But Slovenian builder MajklSpajkl appears to have. His hilarious kinetic sculpture uses a modified 75111 Darth Vader LEGO set, with less rigid joints. The mechanism is simple in principle, but it works perfectly. Having seen this functioning live at some recent LEGO events in Slovenia, I must say my feelings for it are complicated. At first I felt mildly amused, but the longer I watched it, the more I loved it. And this really is the charm of MajklSpajkl’s MOC: it is built with relatively simple techniques and mechanisms, but what it lacks in complexity it more than makes up for in originality and humour.
And here is a video of it in action, for your viewing pleasure:

Gone but not forgotten my beautiful Princess
As we all find our ways to accept the loss of a beloved Princess, our hearts are still torn and our tears still do not dry. It is only apt at this time to listen to the wise words of Yoda and find some solace in our sadness: “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not.”
Jeffrey Kong pays tribute using his talents to honour Carrie Fisher with this angelic LEGO creation. Part of Jeffrey’s inspiration was her lesser-known deeds off the screen. She was a leading advocate and activist for mental health awareness and the fight against drug addiction. We no longer see Carrie and Leia as two separate individuals, but as one.
for you are now One with the Force.
Continue to inspire us and Awaken our minds,
and give us the strength to never give up Hope.
LEGO Star Wars 75152 Imperial Assault Hovertank from Rogue One [Spoiler Review]
LEGO released its first wave of LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets in October, but we’ve decided to wait until both our readers and we ourselves have had a chance to see the movie, released in most countries on December 16. We’ll be reviewing all of the current Rogue One sets, starting today with 75152 Imperial Assault Hovertank, which includes 3 minifigs with 385 pieces and retails for $30.
Now that the movie is out, we’ll be talking about the movie’s characters and plot in our Rogue One LEGO set reviews, so come back and read our review later if you want to remain spoiler-free. But if you’re just interested in our recommendation now before you see the movie, this is a great value and I recommend the set heartily to any Star Wars fan.

Remembering Carrie Fisher (1956-2016) [News]
Beloved actress and writer Carrie Fisher has passed away at age 60, after a recent heart attack. While she will be most fondly remembered for her role as the feisty Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars saga, Fisher appeared in many other well-known movies including The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally. She was also both an accomplished writer (often drawing upon her own over-the-top life experiences in Postcards from the Edge and more recently The Princess Diarist) and an oft-uncredited screenplay writer with involvement in movies like Hook and The Wedding Singer.

The iconic image of Fisher as Princess Leia will almost certainly be the one that stays with her fans, whether it be sporting the flowing regal gown and giant hair buns of A New Hope, or the metallic bikini “slave girl” outfit from Return of the Jedi. These images resonate with LEGO fans too, and over the years we’ve featured plenty of custom builds of the Leia character. Below are a few of them.

Haulin’ imperial cargo like nobody’s business
Star Wars: Rogue One introduced the world to the AT-ACT, an imperial walker with a large cargo hold and plenty of fire-power. It’s the perfect vehicle when you need to haul cargo across the beaches of Scarif, but still need to be prepared to start a counterattack against rebel forces. Forgotten Days‘s minifig-scale version of the AT-ACT is impressive, most impressive.
Day’s walker has some great shaping and textures, especially on the legs and head. And check out those ground troops on the beach; perfect marching formations even in the face of incoming rebel fire! If minifig-scale LEGO creations aren’t for you, there’s no need to fret because [E]ddy Plu has your back with his microscale AT-ACT.
Even at this tiny scale, Plu captured the distinct walker with its orange cargo hold and delicate legs. Best of all, the tiny splashes of water and lazer beam bolts give this miniature beach a real sense of action. And the microscale stormtroopers and rebels are pretty cute too.
