Arvo’s Bubble and Bobble

Arvo is another favorite builder of mine. His gallery mainly consists of super-realistic recreations of real-world objects, but his latest creations are inspired by the arcade game Bubble Bobble. I aspire to the level of his photography:

Happy Year of the Boar!

Yeah yeah, I already posted a roundup of LEGO creations inspired by Japanese new year’s celebrations, but Soren kindly pointed out an important masterpiece I missed. Without further ado, I give you “Wild Boar Girl” by mizuki:

Have a great 2007, everybody!

Chainsaw Santa by Moko

Moko has build a rather ominous rendition of the jolly old elf:

News: Bosch Releases “LEGO Edition” Dishwasher

So how do you deal with dirty LEGO? German appliance maker Bosch has a solution — a special cycle in their new “LEGO Edition” dishwasher that gently cleans your plastic toys at 40° Celsius (104° Fahrenheit).

No, I’m not joking:

Concept car contest results and contestants of awesomeness

Just because I’m away people don’t stop building awesome space stuff! There has been a contest running over at classic-space (held by the by now familiar Lukas) that has just ended. It produced some spectacular models – check out Bram Lambrecht’s winning entry for instance:

First runner up, my fellow countryman Joel Larsson’s car, is also very interesting:

Make sure you see all the entrants and read the full story in the contest thread on classic-space!

Bill Ward’s Garden Gnome Sculpture

I think garden gnomes aren’t half bad. I got one recently for my wife (and not one of those nasty resin ones either). Anyway, Bill Ward puts little plastic bricks to good use in his own garden gnome:

Love the belt!!!

Arvo’s Vintage Typewriter

I’m declaring the Arvo Brothers the Master of Everyday Objects.

I said in my most recent post about his mini Nord Lead synthesizer that it’s harder to make big things small than it is to make big or life-size versions of big things.

This is certainly true of their latest creation, which looks like a real-life typewriter until you realize it’s made from LEGO bricks, and then you realize it’s a teeny tiny LEGO typewriter (look at the studs) less than six inches across:

Arvo’s Mini Nord Lead

Nearly six months ago I blogged Brickshelfer arvo’s LEGO Nord Lead synthesizer — so realistic it fits right in with a collection of real synthesizers.

A full-size version of a synthesizer is all well and good, but arvo proves he can reduce the same concept down to a much smaller scale (which I argue is harder) with this new version:

I’m going to take a wild guess that this Technic musician is sequencing a techno beat:

Go Q*Bert Go!

Nelson Yrizarry gets all nostalgic for old-school arcade games with his latest vignette, a recreation of the classic Q*Bert (via Unique Brique Techniques):
