Hey, all you lurking Castle Lovers out there, I will be hosting a monthly build challenge on Classic Castle. The first challenge is life-size Medieval Weapons. No other rules. That’s right. No rules. So give it whirl, hop over there, and show us what you can do.

This samurai is astounding. The plethora of unusual pieces meshes perfectly together. Genius, I say. Pure Genius. You can color me a fan of the builder. His name is Cameron, by the way.
And, yes, this is the type of thing we would love to see in the Big In Japan layout at BrickCon this year.

I don’t know about you, but I got my red envelope on Chinese New Years a few weeks back. Here, two builders from Asia, rack911 and MrH have created the God of Wealth (財神). You can see the character 財, meaning wealth, depicted in both creations (in the latter it appears on the stand).
Here’s hoping your wealth comes in Lego bricks!
This lawn gnome, by Adam Hally is adorable. He’s probably up to no good, but he is cute. I think I need a couple of them.
Andrew’s blast from the past reminded me to check my own list and I discovered that I hadn’t blogged this masterpiece. Steven Marshall makes use of his design talents and, I suspect, the TLG rendering libraries to present this excellent virtual recreation of the Eiffel Tower under construction. It’s really, really, really excellent.
Over on Flickr, Car_MP has just posted a great rendition of one of the more adorable pieces of Japanese culture. Although I’m more partial her boyfriend Dear Daniel, for obvious reasons, it’s hard not to be a fan of this creation.
This would also be great in the Big In Japan display that The Brothers Brick is organizing for Brickcon 2010.

Despite being an early adopter of many technologies, I still don’t have an iPhone, I refuse to tweet, and thought the Wii would flop. Well, at least I was proved right about that last one in the long run.
Though I remain skeptical of Apple’s latest foray into palmtop computing (I have a Newton downstairs somewhere), I’m certainly impressed with Joe Meno‘s LEGO version.
Joe’s LEGO iPad has just about everything, including swappable screens and the Apple logo on the back. Ironically, the only thing missing from the LEGO iPad is a little blue 2×2 brick indicating that the Adobe Flash plugin is broken…
Sean Kenney was recently featured in a 30 minute documentary aired on Japan’s national public broadcasting organization, NHK. Click on the image below for the link to the video, where you can see Sean’s LEGO studio, his Times Square model, and watch him build his largest creation: a life-sized polar bear!

Cole Blaq built his name and lit it on fire! Without using light sources inside the sculpture, Cole used a gradient of bricks from the white core to the red rims and an overhead lamp to cast the glow. The effect amazingly realistic!
