Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays/Enjoy your break

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays

However you celebrate the holiday and whether or not you do I’d like to send out my warmest regards to all our readers. Enjoy your break if you get one.

And for those in countries that do not celebrate Christmas I apologise for a likely lack of blogging in the immediate future.

PS. And apologies to all for the poorly lit, tacky photo. Just remember it’s the thought that counts ;)

“Underneath, it’s a hyperalloy combat chassis.”

This bust of the classic Terminator frame is incredibly detailed and wonderfully menacing. Martin Latta has done a most excellent job. While the actual Terminator is awesome, that base just makes it that much better and complements the build perfectly. This is one of those that I would like to own.

LEGO Terminator

Many thanks to Tom Williamson for the heads up!

Tesla Handheld Directed-Energy Projector Model #34

Tesla would be proud to have his name linked to this beauty. Dave Kaleta has created a weapon of electronic lovability (that’s a word, right?). I would feel honored to be vaporized by this, any day.

LEGO Steampunk Raygun

You need to check out the video, because it freakin’ lights up as well.

Many thanks to Chris Malloy for pointing this out.

This won’t hurt a bit

Why is it that doctors and nurses think that is going to help? Sean Ragan embraces the needle with this exceptional build. The thing gives me the creeps just looking at it. Roll up your sleeve. This won’t hurt a bit.

Toys for Tots teddy bear mascot

This morning I received a special donation to Creations for Charity from Albert U (au_riverhorse), who made a sculpture of the Toys for Tots teddy bear mascot in Marine Corps dress uniform. At 780 pieces, this creation features rare parts in gold and dark blue and costs over $200 just in parts alone. I hope someone out there will give a new home to this unique and memorable item.

Suit for a king

At first glance of the picture, I expected a mosaic, but Marin Stipkovic surprised me with his 3D sculpture of the King of diamonds card. This complex model is built over 9-months and well worth the effort.

Holy Bricks, Batman!

Fredoichi recently unveiled this sleek bust of the Caped Crusader. I really like the smooth, finished look of this build. Now it just needs a voice chip saying, “I’m Batman”.

“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.”

Well, I’m way late on this one. I meant to post it here right away, but forgot. Absolutely no excuse for that. But better late than never.

Stitch is one of my all-time favorite Disney characters and Jordan’s sculpture is most excellent. From the stance of the character to the look on his face, from the use of the stickers on the ears (yes, they are official LEGO) to the use of black teeth for fingers, everything about this build meshes very well.

It’s Miss Piggy!

Brickshelf user Elex presents a sculpture of Miss Piggy on her motorcycle measuring 104 studs wide and 65 bricks tall. There’s a commentary page and a well-documented construction journal with detailed photos showing the building process. This is the most pink I’ve seen in a fan-built creation.

In Clover

This bike, by Karwick, reminds me of one I had as a kid. I loved that thing and this one is pretty cool too.

Honda RA272

Honda RA272

According to Ricardo Grates (biczzz) the Honda RA272 was the first Japanese car to win a Grand Prix. And it sure looks great in LEGO.

Dissecting a frog

Control X

I can say with near certainty that this is the first time realistic dissection has been rendered in LEGO. I can almost smell the well-exposed guts of Dave Kaleta’s celebration of biology classes. Now what tags do I use for this one?
