Just like many other artists, LEGO builders find inspiration in the music they listen to as they create the wonderful models you see here on The Brothers Brick. It’s no surprise, then, that music inspires many LEGO models more directly, from minifig musicians to album art recreated with bricks.

LEGO version of Radiohead’s In Rainbows album art by woordenaar

For those of you disappointed by the fact that the downloadable version of Radiohead’s new album, In Rainbows, didn’t come with any album art, woordenaar has the solution:

Steven Marshall is a guitar god!

Steven Marshall isn’t just a guitar god, he’s also becoming quite the LEGO artist. The only studs visible on this acoustic bass are on the bridge (where the strings meet the body).

Rock on, dbol! Rock on.

I’ve always felt that LEGO vignettes are like haiku (though maybe Bruce might have made that comparison first). Dbol actually combines the two with this great vignette of a gamer playing Guitar Hero with an unimpressed female onlooker:

Rock stars preen and strut
While they shout at the devil
But he’s just a geek.

This isn’t just an amusing vig — it’s got some interesting techniques, like the curtains and the wonderful large-screen TV.

Historical Personages by Morgan19

I’ve admired Morgan19‘s minifigs ever since I noticed his great Firefly minifigs. The latest batch is a group of historical minifigs, entries for the Fine Clonier Historical Minifig Contest.

I might quibble with the “historical” nature of some of these, but it’s a great collection of minifigs, presented beautifully.

Two turntables and a microphone

Brothers Brick reader Kevin Guoh sent us a link to his Flickr photostream a few weeks ago, and I promptly lost his message in our mountain of reader submission e-mail. :-( Among his creations is this great DJ console (and don’t miss his floor lamp). Sorry, Kevin! Better late than never?

Indie-rock album art by Christoph

Blogger Christoph has a great photoset of LEGO’d album art inspired by indie artists like Kaiser Chiefs, Morrissey, Belle and Sebastian, and The Strokes:

Miniland scale ZZ Top and Eliminator!

Hey All,

I’m back from a self-inflicted hiatus/exile and just stumbled across this. Hope you all enjoy it!

While I haven’t heard of this builder before, X-Speed seems to specialize in miniland vehicles. Pretty nifty!

Our friends are all aboard...

Taka Hamada‘s latest album cover should be immediately recognizable to fans of The Beatles. After all, haven’t we all wanted to live in a Yellow Submarine at some point in our lives?

Rock on, little plastic dudes!

LEGO Gives Woordenaar Piece of Mind

A deal with the devils of fame

Classic-Castler Maedhros may not listen to the same music I listen to, but the minifig versions of his favorite bands are really rather cool.

The mohawk on this guy in Diary of Dreams is awesome:

Goth rockers Bauhaus:

Fields of the Nephilim:

And finally, Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes:

Heavy Metal Minifigs

I love building musical minifigs, but my taste in music generally runs to indie and alternative rock, and those bands pretty much all look alike in minifig form (white guys in T-shirts and blue jeans). Thankfully, I was chatting with Nelson Yrizarry and he suggested using Voldemort’s face for Alice Cooper. Hurray!

How could I build a heavy metal rocker like Alice Cooper without building the quintessential artist of the genre? I couldn’t, so here’s Ozzy Osbourne (with an animal friend):
