LEGO Death Star’s Tie Fighter with Hanger Rack – how does the GWP measure up? [Review]

It would be an understatement to say that LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star has been a Force Lightning rod for controversy since it was formally revealed last week. As you can tell from our review, the hands-on experience left us feeling as fried as Luke after his encounter with the Emperor. Surprisingly, the accompanying gift with purchase 40771 TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack, has generated almost as much attention, mostly negative. A lot of this stems from LEGO’s publicity photos showing the TIE Fighter with the set, despite it being a limited-time exclusive, garnering the label “DLC” after video games that seemingly lock off part of a complete game under a paywall. Even if that wasn’t the intent, it’s not a good look, especially when this “missing piece” is part of LEGO’s most expensive set yet. Questionable marketing aside, how does the bonus set hold up? And how does it compare with past Gifts with Purchase from past premium releases?

One builder missed out on the Flying Moon Car GWP and builds 19 variants instead

Not every Gift With Purchase is a classic, but the Flying Moon Car from earlier this year had big nostalgia appeal with its retro space stylings. Builder Andrew Lee missed out on the offer and felt lunar remorse. Fortunately, LEGO makes the instructions freely available (here’s a link to the moon car), so Andrew had a go at making his own, with a cherry red paint job.

Why stop there? Soon, one moon car became a month-long marathon of making a space city’s worth of variants, each more delightful than the last. Andrew started small with a closed-top version.

Friendly Snails are sliding your way as the next LEGO Gift with Purchase [News]

Today LEGO revealed a new Gift With Purchase (GWP) arriving on July 1, 2025:
LEGO Ideas 40788 Friendly Snails. GWPs are always a welcome bonus when buying new bricks, but occasionally a free set comes along that’s so special it has you looking for things to add to your shopping cart just for the bonus set. As a fan of the outdoors, Friendly Snails is that kind of set for me – a fun little nature build that’s perfect for display with unique printed parts. Kudos to fan designer Maxime for this winning display.

We’re so excited to reveal the LEGO® Ideas 40788 Friendly Snails, which was dreamed up in our ‘Build the Gift of Purchase Set of your Dreams‘ Challenge in 2024. The original submission was uploaded as ‘The Autumn Snails‘ in the challenge by LEGO Ideas Fan Designer Jagamax, also known as Maxime!

This GWP set is a garden creatures display-model gift designed with adult fans of nature and animals in mind. The build-and-display set features 2 snails with decorated shells, a bee, log, rock, puddle and greenery. The scene is assembled on a single sturdy base that allows the whole set to be safely picked up and moved. To increase options for display, the snails can be detached and placed beyond the set’s base.

This LEGO Gift With Purchase set will be available on July 1st, and added to your cart on LEGO.com with a minimum purchase of €160 / $160 USD. The set availability and full details of the promotion are available at LEGO.com.

LEGO Star Wars 40765 Kamino Training Facility Gift with Purchase: Train in Vain? [Review]

Star Wars Day (May the 4th) is always a fun day for LEGO Star Wars fans. As well as the usual festivities, it often coincides with the launch of several new sets in the theme – and a new Gift with Purchase (GWP). This year, we’re visiting the cloners on Kamino with 40765 Kamino Training Facility. With 190 pieces, you’ll need to spend US $160 | CAN $210 | UK £145 on Star Wars products between May 1st and May 5th to get it added to your shopping cart. Luckily there are loads of ways to do that with new sets: helmets from the prequels and sequels, the galaxy’s most violent astromech droid, or to get it all in one go, the UCS Slave I. LEGO 40701 Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene Gift with Purchase [Review]

The internet can argue for ages about what the best Christmas song is. And while there are some correct answers (it’s the Pogues, obviously), one which should not be overlooked is Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. This was Christmas music before Christmas music was a thing, and has been set to many a festive ballet performance since. You might find yourself humming it if you build LEGO’s next Gift with Purchase (GWP) offering: 40701 Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene, which will be available from December 6 to December 31 with purchases of US $TBD | CAN $TBD | UK £TBD. (You might also find it at third-party retail sites like eBay or Amazon.) LEGO 40702 Christmas Picture Frame Gift with Purchase [Review]

The holiday season is all about gifts, right? Well no, it’s probably got more to do with family, friends and a great big roast dinner. But gifts have become an inescapable part of Christmas. And if you’re doing some LEGO gift shopping from December 13 until December 31, you might get a little gift of your own! There are two Gifts with Purchase (GWPs) being offered in that timeframe, the smallest of which is 40702 Christmas Picture Frame. This set will be available with purchases exceeding… Well, we don’t have that information yet, so the prices are US $TBD | CAN $TBD | UK £TBD! LEGO Black Friday deals now live, 10335 The Endurance available [News]

Black Friday has become one of the biggest LEGO events of the year with new sets and special offers available from November 29 through Cyber Monday on December 2. The biggest news is that LEGO Icons 10335 the Endurance is now available for US $269.99 | CAN $349.99 | UK £229.99. Should you choose to buy it over the weekend, you can also land its exclusive Gift with Purchase (GWP), 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat. That’s not the only GWP on offer though: 40700 Holiday Winter Train and 40699 Retro Record Player are included with any purchases over US $170 | CAN $220 | UK £155 and US $250 | CAN $325 | UK £225 respectively, with two more polybags available on Cyber Monday with purchases exceeding US $50 | CAN $65 | UK £45.

The deals from the LEGO Insider Weekend – which started last week – will stay live until December 2, including exclusives available through the Rewards Centre (US | CAN | UK) and discounts on selected sets. There will be some price reductions available for non-Insiders too, but at the time of writing, there’s no information on what those discounts would be. LEGO Black Friday exclusive 10335 The Endurance celebrates Ernest Shackleton with 3,000-piece sailing ship and GWP [News]

Earlier this month, National Geographic released a documentary on Disney+ about the discovery of Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship, Endurance. With perfect timing, LEGO is now releasing the polar exploration vessel in a 3,011-piece display kit: 10335 The Endurance. Retailing for US $269.99 | CAN $349.99 | UK £229.99, this ship will set sail from November 29 — just in time for the holiday season. No mention of Endurance can pass without mentioning the incredible feat of human endurance that followed its wrecking; and so LEGO Insiders can also get their hands on an exclusive gift with purchase — 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat – free with copies of the Endurance purchased between November 29 and December 2.
