BrickHeadz debuted in 2016 as a new way for LEGO fans to build and display their fandom and creativity. As of 2024, LEGO has released over 250 BrickHeadz characters, sold either individually or in groups. While most BrickHeadz are based on characters from pop culture, like Marvel comics, Disney films, or Lord of the Rings, LEGO also releases BrickHeadz tied to holidays, as well as a kit to make a BrickHeadz character of yourself! As all BrickHeadz share a common size and style, creating your own can be a fun way to share your love for a favorite character.

LEGO reveals The Simpsons BrickHeadz including Homer and Krusty the Clown [News]

Today LEGO revealed a brand new BrickHeadz double pack, 41635 Homer Simpson and Krusty the Clown. This comedic duo come from the longest running animated show in history, The Simpsons, which has been featured in LEGO form before in two collectible minifigure series, three Dimension expansion packs and the excellent 71006 Simpsons House and 71016 Kwik-E-Mart.

It seems this has been the summer of BrickHeadz with product announcements coming fast and furious from Harry Potter to Ghostbusters. The Simpsons Brickheadz at first glance take a minimalist perspective opting for brick built details rather than numerous printed tiles (though Homer’s chubby belly is quite well done this way). LEGO has not announced the release date or price yet, though we expect the double pack to sell for the typical $19.99 USD.

Parts pack bonanza with heavily discounted BrickHeadz on Amazon.com [News]

Whether you like LEGO BrickHeadz or not, there’s no denying that they make excellent sources of small parts for your own LEGO creations, often in unusual colors or with unique printed elements. If you’re more of a collector than a builder, BrickHeadz are also a solid investment, since sold-out BrickHeadz are going for two to three times their original price on the secondary market. Regardless of your motivation, LEGO that’s as much as 46% off is hard to pass up!

Note that some of the lower-priced items like Thanos and Gamora (at rock-bottom prices of only $5.38 each) can only be purchased as part of orders over $25, but it’s pretty easy to get over that price threshold, so just add them to your cart and keep shopping.

The Famous Family of Four and quite Fantastic too

BrickHeadz builds work pretty well for all things coherent and familiar, such as consistent uniforms or builds of famous characters. This fantastic family of four by Adam Dodge stands out among the usual BrickHeadz characters because they each have a bit of a unique attribute to show off, from the fiery human torch with his transformation to flames and the Invisible Woman showing off her powers with a partially invisible leg to Dr Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic flexing his arm.

The unique piece here is the Thing, which breaks away from the typical BrickHeadz template in size and works well with the brick studs exposed. I wanted to call out to Adam that I did notice his slip-in of Captain Salazar’s forehead printed piece, which works quite well on the base as cracks due to the weight of Benjamin Grimm.

Stranger Things served with LEGO and Eggo

Stranger Things has been one of my favourite TV series on the screen recently with its throwbacks and references to the 80’s. What makes it really stand out are the cast of characters that bring something unique and quirky to the table. This BrickHeadz lineup by Casey McCoy really brings back great memories and anticipation for the next season to come. In the lineup from left to right, we’ve got Mike, Eleven, Maxine, Lucas, Will and my favourite character, Dustin.

The star of the show, Eleven is seen holding on to her favourite snack, Eggo. It’s interesting to know that the Waffle element has only appeared once in the infamous LEGO 70818 Double Decker Couch set from The LEGO Movie theme. All this talk about Eggo is making me hungry – time for me to hunt for some!

LEGO BrickHeadz 41612 Steve and Creeper from Minecraft [Review]

Having a Minecraft set in LEGO is the best form of flattery in some weird and wonderful way. Minecraft was meant to be the LEGO of the digital world, and here we are now reviewing a franchise character that LEGO inspired in the first place – making a jump back from the virtual world to a physical one. I am for one a fan of Minecraft, from its indie startup roots to its recent acquisition by Microsoft and the vast cult-like following it has all over the world, though I’ve never taken to the characters in the universe as much as the overall gameplay. The LEGO Minecraft BrickHeadz 41612 Steve and Creeper come numbered 58 and 59 respectively in the continuation of the series. The two-pack costs $19.99 for 160 pieces.

Sumo is the greatest sport on earth

I’ve explained elsewhere why sumo (traditional Japanese wrestling) is the greatest sport on earth — it’s fast, complex, and incredibly exciting. I won an apple in my first sumo bout at age three, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Cindy Su apparently agrees with me, because she built this wonderful rikishi (or wrestler — sumo is the name of the sport, not the name of the wrestlers). She layers various round tiles to bulk up the underlying BrickHeadz form, and gives this mountain of a man a stand complete with a Japanese flag to pose on. He has huge arms to shove opponents out of the ring, with an expressive face that seems to say he’s relieved to have just finished a winning bout.

Interestingly, many of the top wrestlers these days are foreign-born, from countries like Mongolia and Georgia. As someone who spent 15 years getting called gaijin (foreigner, with connotations of “outsider”) in my own home country, I’ve taken a perverse pleasure in rooting for the foreigners in recent sumo tournaments. Of course, sumo wrestlers aren’t born quite so big. They bulk up by eating a special stew called chankonabe, which Cindy has also faithfully created for this rikishi to enjoy.

LEGO BrickHeadz 41622 Peter Venkman and Slimer from Ghostbusters [Review]

Ghostbusters kicked off as a LEGO theme in 2014 with the LEGO Ideas 21108 ECTO-1, which unleashed nostalgia for those of us who grew up in the 80s. Since then, with the licensing deal already in place, LEGO has released quite a few follow-ups, including the splendid 75827 Firehouse Headquarters and several LEGO Dimensions releases of small Ghostbusters builds with minifigures. LEGO Ghostbusters has now found a new lease of life with the introduction of the BrickHeadz format with 41622 Peter Venkman and Slimer, numbered 62 and 63 respectively in the series. The two-pack release costs $19.99 for 228 pieces.

Before we dive into the review, let’s take a look at an infographic that illustrates the sets released in this theme to date. This Ghostbuster lineup spans the past 4 years from the LEGO Ideas theme to regular sets and LEGO Dimensions game packs. The real favourites of mine are actually the minifigures — especially the Stay Puft minifigure from the LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack.

Looks like someone forgot to turn off their studio lights

If you have the LEGO set 41597 Go Brick Me, which we reviewed in-depth, you’re probably familiar with the generic white BrickHeadz model included in that set’s instruction booklet. Well, LEGO builder Pascal Hetzel has created this tragically “melting” creation of that generic BrickHeadz model. Be sure to take a closer look at the creation, which is actually built at double size.

One of the most distinct details of this model is the re-creation of the 1×1 printed tile used for the eyes, which thanks to some clever part uses is remarkably accurate despite the scale increase. I also really like the smooth curves used to make the spreading pools of melted plastic.

Finish him!

“Get over here!” for a pair of cute but deadly BrickHeadz characters by Julius von Brunk. They are none-other than Scorpion and Sub-Zero from the hit arcade fighting game franchise, Mortal Kombat. The two figures are instantly recognizable, and I especially like how Julius used two different slopes to form the shapes of their masks. I can almost imagine a fatality move involving a brick separator, which begs the question…Do BrickHeadz have green or red blood?

LEGO Disney BrickHeadz 41624 and 41625 Mickey and Minnie Mouse [Review]

Although LEGO hasn’t yet officially announced or listed these online yet, we picked up two new LEGO BrickHeadz sets, 41624 Mickey Mouse and 41625 Minnie Mouse at our local LEGO Store today. Both sets retail for the usual $9.99 in the US (Canada: 12.99 CAD | UK: £9.99). Mickey includes 109 pieces and Minnie includes 129 pieces.

Bicycle made for a Brickheadz

Builder Cindy Su reminisces about the past with a Taiwanese postman built in BrickHeadz form that’s pretty detailed and cute. These days, the postal services have moved on to motorbikes and cars, but you can still find them on bicycles out in the countryside. A specially crafted green bicycle with the capability to have the LEGO character mounted is the icing on the cake. Cindy uses a specially modified part for the fork of the bicycles. See if you can spot another nice part usage – find the frog in the build!

Not even brick can save you from me!

We’ve seen a multitude of characters built by YOS Bricks in BrickHeadz form and otherwise, inspired by everything from Disney movies like Wreck it Ralph to Blizzard games. A strange mix indeed, and the collection of Blizzard Brickheadz has been flying under the radar so far. But now, with the addition of the Prime Evil Diablo from Diablo III and his host Leah, it is about time Yos Bricks’ “BlizzHeadz” get some recognition!

YOS Bricks takes the popular theme of Brickheadz to its limits and further with his builds, and the builder has declared that the Diablo figure in particular was the hardest so far. It is very complex while still keeping the basic BrickHeadz look. The ribbed horns are captured really well with the use of hinge bricks and 1×2 plates with door rail. Other characteristics like the iconic forehead and patterns on the demon’s body are also captured perfectly. The addition of Leah in the picture adds a bit of a sad tone to those more familiar with the story.
