At one tail per Unikitty, many Unikitties had to be sacrificed for this Brickheadz to come to life. The effort paid off for Krzysztof J as the effect it provides for Marilyn’s curly headlocks is almost ideal. A few other stylistic standouts include the infamous mole, which is ingeniously made with the negative space of a 1×1 brick with a single knob, and the clever use of minifigure hairpieces that make up the upper section of the corset.
BrickHeadz is a genre determined by some strict guidelines. However Krzysztof J does an awesome job of building beyond any rules. A ridiculously huge and funny trumpet and a wide glowing smile are what making a little figurine of Louis Armstrong instantly recognizable. Bonus points for such a smart one-piece classic bowtie.
BrickHeadz are a bit like Marmite, dividing opinion into “love them” or “hate them” camps. It seems that even this famous theoretical physicist is not immune to becoming a squared mass of bricks. Krzysztof J has chosen to depict Einstein with his infamous tongue sticking-out pose next to a blackboard demonstrating his widely known equation E = mc 2. I love the 1×1 tile representing the ‘squared’ part of the equation and the builder’s clever use of a grille tile for Einstein’s furrowed brow.
Disney’s Frozen left us with a couple of heavy earworms still playing in the very background of our minds, but CK HO doesn’t let our favourite winter characters go. Recreated in the style of BrickHeadz, Elsa and Anna (featuring Olaf and Swen) do not look as excited as the versions by YOS Lego we featured previously, but this time they include not only bananas, but also some croissants.
Ever since LEGO revealed their BrickHeadz line, AFOLs around the world have entered a building frenzy trying to replicate the souless, blocky style of the series. Out of the hundreds of custom BrickHeadz I’ve seen, Yang Wang‘s Rick and Morty Brickheadz are hands down my favorite.
Yang chose the perfect color palette to depict Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. Just look at Rick’s unibrow and spiky hair! Morty even has two Megaseeds. And while the background might be an offense to the eyes, it’s a clear reference to Dimension 35C (home of the coveted Megaseeds).
There’s been a lot of LEGO creations inspired by LEGO’s new Brickheadz line recently. So it takes something special to catch the eye and rise above the rest of the blocky crowd. James Zhan does exactly that with these renditions of the Staypuft Marshmallow Man and Dr. Venkman from Ghostbusters.
Mr. Puft is looking very dapper in his sailor’s hat, and there’s good work on his little red bow tie too. Setting him loose amidst some microscaled buildings is a nice touch to give an idea of a different scale. Peter Venkman looks fetching in his boiler suit, and the ghost trap is excellent. But just check out Smiler — the use of a green minifigure tub as his mouth is absolutely inspired!
The animal suit characters from LEGO’s Collectible Minifigures line have proven to be highly popular and rather hard to find. The result: many crumpled blind packs left in every retail case, due to heavy violation by human fingertips in search of a pig- or chicken-suited minifigure. Jared Chan decided to stop looking and build his own – in a slightly different scale. And thanks to Jared’s talents they look just as cute in Brickheadz form. My favorite? Lizard Suit Guy on the rampage! I really hope Jared works on the rest of the suit family members, just to satisfy our completionist needs.
These cute incarnations of famous fast food characters by Eric Mok in LEGO Brickheadz fashion are a tasty treat. Ronald Mcdonald’s hairdo is spot-on, as are his clothes, right down to his collars. Eric has managed to sneak in the signature arches on Birdie’s outfit, and Hamburglar’s tie even spots a burger-like printed element. And as if the figures weren’t enough, the base stands are shaped like mouth-watering cheeseburgers.
If I was in McDonalds marketing, I’d be trying to figure out how to mass-produce these for a Happy Meal giveaway promo.

We all knew this was going to happen sooner or later: the invasion of BrickHeadz has crossed over to a galaxy far far away. Jared Chan brings us four Star Wars characters; the twins Luke and Leia along with Han and C-3PO. I’m impressed with the builder’s use of a limited palette of gold bricks to pull off the shiny protocol droid.
With LEGO’s introduction of BrickHeadz, we’re starting to see fan builders apply their creativity to featuring their favourite characters in this new form. Mark Gotidoc captures the essence of these five Pixar characters’ emotions cleverly with just the right tones and elements, but with one difference from LEGO sets: no printed body parts. The only parts which are printed are the eyes, which truly convey the expressions of each individual. The rest are cleverly fashioned in minimal parts but with maximum effect.
I particularly like how some of the fists are fashioned with “lamp holder” pieces, instead of the expected plate holders (which to me look like hooks more than anything else).
