You’d probably expect a lot of the posts on a LEGO website like The Brothers Brick to be about LEGO, and you’d be right. If you’re browsing this page, you might want to consider narrowing what you’re looking for by checking out categories like “Space” and “Castle.” We’re sure there’s something here that’ll fascinate and amaze you.

The State of Denmark art prints by Matthew Ulstad

As much as we have an artistic appreciation for many of the LEGO models we feature here, it’s also great to run across art inspired by LEGO. Artist Matthew Ulstad has created a series of prints titled “All is Right in the State of Denmark,” including a minifig study inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man,” complete with a background printed using actual LEGO baseplates.

For those of us interested in hanging some of these on our own walls, you can pick up prints on Matthew’s Etsy store.

Rayzer Industries Sky Drone watches from above

Raysor L. (Rimven) has changed his screen name since we last featured his Tsu-ka Technician last week, but he can’t hide from the all-seeing TBB eye in the sky. Okay, well, it’s actually us who can’t hide from the awesomeness of his sky drone, but you get the picture.

The white color blocking on the gray wings (or is it the other way around?) is lovely, and the “eye” subtly incorporates the seed part for the 4th NPU challenge.

Orange Jedi Interceptor punches through Trade Federation blockades

Though Lucas lost me by the second Star Wars prequel, I still love many of the vehicles and vessels designed by his brilliant team. One of my favorite scenes is the one in which Obi-Wan and Anakin fight through the blockade of Coruscant in their Jedi Interceptors. Official LEGO Star Wars sets have featured the Eta-2 Actis-class Light Intercepter a couple of times, but this studless design by Kevin Murney (legorevolution) truly pops. The bright orange certainly helps.

LEGO Toy Story 40% off, summer sets & LEGO Shop promos [News]

The final batch of summer LEGO sets has rolled off the truck at the LEGO Shop online, joined by heavily discounted LEGO Toy Story sets and several summer promotional items.

NinjaGo gets a refresh with some interesting creature-based sets, starting with this lovely brown dragon in 2509 Earth Dragon Defense.icon

All LEGO Toy Story sets are 40% off — or more, in the case of rock-bottom prices for magnets — and many of these are pretty nice parts packs for the price. My personal favorite Toy Story set is 7599 Garbage Truck Getaway, icon with a surprisingly interesting build (for a line clearly targeted the movie’s target demographic) plus lots of nice dark green parts.

Breaking and entering with LEGO

I have an odd interest in the intersection of crime and LEGO, so I’m thrilled by this clip from the 1979 Danish film The Olsen Gang Never Surrenders (Olsen-banden overgiver sig aldrig) featuring a LEGO assisted commercial burglary.

MaK SAFS Space Type Pit-Viper by Tromas

TR Brownridge (.Tromas) has posted another inspiration model for the MaK Starfighter Contest. It’s great to see a classic MaK hardsuit, and this one has some lovely details — not least of which the sticker/decal use. Notice in particular the thin warning stripe below the floodlight on the front.

Conan O’Brian shows off Nathan Sawaya sculpture

It’s always nice to see our little hobby get some broader exposure, so it was great to see Nathan Sawaya‘s sculpture of Conan O’Brian‘s superhero alter ego “The Flaming C” on the show the other night, but Andy Richter deserved his own LEGO homage, too. Hilarity ensues.

TAURUS Main Battle Tank

Tommy ([Strange]) sets his sights on the future of military hardware with the TAURUS MBT. The splashes of blue and yellow printed tiles add the kind of believable labeling that appears on many military vehicles, and also breaks up the dark gray.

TAURUS Main Battle Tank (Angle shot)

Tommy’s photo is also an interesting lesson in presentation that I think is worth sharing. Reader Vedad sent us a link to Tommy’s original photo, but the angle at which the model was photographed (and the contrast) didn’t really do the tank justice. Tommy retook the photo, and now details like the gun are much more visible. Here’s the photo above again, alongside the original:

Remote controlled LEGO R2-D2 sculpture

Sculptures are rarely motorized due to their size, and the fact that most people build them mainly for aesthetics. This LEGO R2-D2 by Ickelpete features movement and other functions. I wonder if it can hack into the Death Star? Check out the video.

Potato GLaDOS in Lego

If you ever wondered what GLaDOS would look like in a Lego potato, then wonder no more. Chris McVeigh (powerpig) has what you’re looking for.

So, how are you holding up?

Alien Starfighter

Yes, I know I’m only supposed to build Castle stuff, but I got on a Space kick. So sue me. I was trying to build a fighter that conformed to the Alien Conquest livery. I think I succeeded. I’m planning on this flying over my section of the Numereji display at BrickCon 2011.
